Grace period? If anyone gets killed by a reckless driver using their cell phone during the "grace period", you better hope I'm not sitting on the jury at your murder trial!

Guess they are just stalling to figure out how they are going to have "selective enforcement" on the cell phones. Kinda like red light cameras. "No Mexican tags will be stopped, cited. No vehicles will be stopped unless they look like they can or WILL pay the fine". Just adding millions more to the already unpaid, never collected more than $17 MILLION in unpaid tickets.

And this ordinance is suppose to keep my family who still live in that town safe? LOL!!! I'll bet there will still be tons of accidents in that crap town bc cell phone use or not... ppl there can't drive for ****. El Pasoans will always be the worse drivers in the U.S.

Hey Glad I Left... nobody misses you in El Paso and with that attitude WE ALL are glad you left!

Back to topic I also wonder how is this going to be enforced... everyday I see police officers and ambulance drivers and firefighters driving and talking on their cells...

We'll see.

Hey Rachel;

We can live with this ordinance. You really got on this one quickly and intend on winning the public over because of it. Piece of cake. We'll abide.

Now, what about you stepping up to the plate and do something about your getting on that airplane while lying about your work status? When are you going to face the judge on your item?

I don't respect you one bit!!!!

The Ban should apply to everyone especiall since most law enforcement and voted officials take advantage of their positions

Maybe its just bad timing, who knows, but everytime I see a EPPD they are on their cell phones... Its just crazy. I was next to one and when they noticed I was looking at them they put the phone down. I am sure that since he sped up he got back on. I have to admit that I car pool with another person and let me tell you I get the daylights scared out of me because of the texting. Since I am riding with them I tend to keep my mouth shut. So in a sense I feel this is a good thing, I just again hope that the Chief of Police will have his employees set the example. Ok wishful thinking... But I am sorry they are always on the phone...

This will be enforced just as much as the ban on Fort Bliss.

It will be enforced as much as making sure your license plate can be read.

It will be enforced as much as having windows with too dark of a tint film on.

It will be enforced as much as making sure you make a complete stop at a stop sign.

It will be enforced as much as a complete stop at a red light before you turn right.

It will be enforced as much as you are supposed to use your turn signals to change lanes.

I could go on, but I think everyone gets the picture.

Do you need a SIGN telling you not to kill your neighbor? Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Just because the City is too chicken to enforce school zone laws without the signs doesn't mean it isn't a law.
