I know the other RB's are good but i don't understand why they didn't play Gable more this year, he is an awesome running back, i hope he comes back next year i'm not sure he is quite ready for the NFL. Good Luck CJ.

The best thing for Gable to do is comeback andmake the most out of the LIMITED opportunities he is going to get. He will be able to graduate, which will be huge, and then hopefully get a LEGITIMATE shot in the NFL. The one thing about the NFL is that there are no favorites being played...either you are getting it done or your not.
The USC Football Awards should have went like this...MVP-Matt Barkley...Offensive MVP-Matt Barkley...Freshman of the Year-Matt Barkley...Defensive Player of the Year-Matt Barkley..I know he never played defense, but if he did he would have been MVP...Coaches Award-Matt Barkley...thats a given...Emerald Bowl MVP-Matt Barkley...The Steve Calrkson God's Gift to Football Award...Matt Barkley...and finally...It's Never His Fault Award-Matt Barkley.

Gable should not have gone to usc. Gable should not have publically questioned the poodle. The poodle is nasty when he's angry, he goes right for the ankles!

I may be reading a bit too much in to what you are saying here, but I get the feeling that you don't like MB much...

Gable should be one of USC's featured backs. He is a gifted runner with extraordinary field vision. Some way and somehow he's landed in Caroll's dog house. And once you go there - you don't come out, ala Hershel Dennis. But its not fair to the athlete. There were many opportunities to play Gable but Caroll chose not to - and with a team that wasn't winning. It won't surprise me to see Gable succeed on the pro level - he has much talent.

No, not like the "Hotel California" because at the Hotel California, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

Gable is legit, the problem is that he fumbled the room key.

All those guys were great, but from what I saw this year, we needed to have more Thunder and Lightening with Bradford/McKnight reprising the roles of Bush/White.

Maybe we need some kind of Wildcat option thrown in....

I've seen Reggie Bush play...Joe McKnight is no Reggie Bush.

And I have too, believe me, McKnight's albatross is that his style reminded fans just enough of Reggie so as to wish for a second coming.

What I mean to suggest is that while Bradford has an incredible upside with more carries, Joe still has some magic of his own, which is what has justified his status as starter.

Gable is great as well, as is Marc Tyler and all the rest. But we need to get more of these guys on the field at once. But I'm not ready to move Bradford into fullback when Havili has done so well.

Maybe more use of a slot back?

Let's hold off on making the McKnight-Bush comparisons until McKnight shows that he can HANG ON TO THE DAMN FOOTBALL!!!!

To say that I hold my breath every time they put the rock in his hands is an understatement. Unfortunately, it isn't because I'm waiting to see what highlight-reel play he's about to unleash, it's because I'm worried he's going to cough up the pill on first contact. He's like a 1974 Ford Pinto, bump him once and wait for the explosion.

As opposed to Bradford, who plays like he's the reason Gerhart would have been cast as a linebacker.

"But (this year) they were better than me. The best man won the position." - NONSENSE!

As a diehard SC fan I've been BAFFLED at the decision to bury Gable in the RB rotation. Ultimately, I see Gable as EQUAL to McKnight. McKnight has excelled ONLY because he was given the reps. If Gable was given the same opportunity he would have excelled just as well.

Gable brings a high level of intense energy to the team. Energy which Bradford and McKnight do not.

CJ, if you're read this. Stay your senior year and graduate. You're only an injury away from 1st string. Fight on!!

Go Pro, If your 3 classes away, you can finish them at your leisure.
I agree with most here though, he should have played a lot more than he did.

What, if he goes pro he can't stay the Spring? Even if the scholarship dries up, he'd be better off paying his own way.

But I hope he stays...as with Chauncey, he'll get some Senior reps, and maybe grab the spotlight. Either way, he'll have an opportunity to contribute to a team which will hopefully benefit from this year's gut check.

so cal's been good about letting those that want to come back and finish to pay their way. Lets face it, Pete's not gonna give him more playing time

CJ Gable is a LEGEND of Sylmar HIgh School. Once he left, Sylmar football has never been the same. He was always known to be an athlete as well as a student. If Gable decides to put his academics before his football, so be it. You can never be mad at someone who wants to have a good education. You can clearly see that Gable has matured tremendously as he states and understands that there is life after football. Whatever his decision be, im sure he will be not only missed but respected!
