I think Joe's future , he should make ammends with the man above, he will be paying him a visit soon. Get out of football, should be his first priority. Like GWB it's time to move on.

The man deserves to go out with honor. He is a true icon.

That time is now.

''That was a very frustrating game,'' Paterno said.''I don't think I could have changed anything, and I don't mean to indicate that I could, because the staff has done such a great job all year. But, you know, you're up there, and there's old Pete Carroll [the USC coach] barking at the officials and grabbing them and trying to get a break here and there, and I'm sitting upstairs.''

Its all part of what the coach is supposed to do but cannot at this point. It is almost a safety issue with this guy.
Who knows what happens the next time he gets run-over on the sideline?
And, Carroll does an excellent Solja Boy!

Paterno dismissed a report that he missed a required interview with ABC, saying,''I didn't miss it; I just didn't go.'' Asked about potential fines for that and for not opening the locker room after the game (another BCS rule), Paterno said,''I haven't got the slightest idea, and to be honest, I don't care.

''I just think there's a limit to how much you can expose your football team to, and if I just give in all the time, I don't know whether I'm a good coach.''

And Paterno throws kids off the team for breaking team rules. Perhaps he ought to be fired for not following the rules. What kind of coach is he? Seems like he is a hypocrite.

"what kind of coach is he"? let's see, the winningest coach of all time. one of if not the highest graduation rates among his players. one who has always put the university before his football team. i could go on and on.

joe is college football. the rules he is breaking is to protect his football team. he's tired of taking questions about himself (hence, no interview) and those post game, in locker room interviews are worthless. he was letting his players have that time to themselves, which the ncaa should look at.

I think it's time for you to learn how to write in complete sentences. Unlike the random conglomeration of thoughts and words in your post, a complete sentence contains a subject-predicate combination and a complete thought.

Unless you learn your lesson and get the kids out of those pesky academic dorms and into the football facility. Each room has a cereal bowl fool of funny little pills and the phone number of the individual that will be assuming your identity for the academic part.

A coach belongs on the field. A legendary figure like Paterno cannot wield his his leadership sword from the coaches box. And sending a message to the locker room at halftime ? I'll bet the lions came away inspired from that memo !. Hey Penn State the Scooter store is on the phone, they have one on hold for JOPAA.
Word to the wise stay out of So Cal !

Paterno apparently DID inspire his players enough from the press box to beat Oregon State. If Pete Carroll had been able to do that from the sideline, USC would be preparing to play next Thursday rather than whining how they should be national champions.

I see where ur coming from but in that case everyone should make ammends with the man above cuz nothing is certain in this life. Joe Pa will be coaching and has a 3 year extension so if its meant for him to coach he will.

I love how everyone is calling out Joe Pa saying that he needs a scooter or that he should stay away from the sidelines cuz he'll get more hurt. If I'm not mistaken I think there was another incident where his team was playing Michigan and one the the Michigan players hit him in the face by accident while going out of bounds. Mind you that was done in the cold and you know he was in pain. Yet he still stayed on the sidelines. Joe Pa is a courageous man and strong man. He ain't going anywhere as some of u think he is. He's been doing his thing since most of you were even born. Pay some respect to your elders. Its even said we're supposed to even fear the old. Yet most of you are talking mad sh*t.

at least paterno's team knows how to win with class and dignity...something pete should learn. also, how about playing a bowl game in the midwest or northeast on jan. 1st? how would your trojans fair then? i'm not saying that usc doesn't have a great team and wasn't the better team on new year's day, but face the facts. they have no class and their bowl game (a major
BCS bowl game none-the-less) was played 11 miles from campus!

so relax there fella' and stop flexing your muscles.

And all this talk about USC being classless well we have no right to judge but if you judge someone correctly thats fine. Personally from what I observed was that the USC chanted "overrated" when they played the Buckeyes. There was also one time USC was playing Michinga in a past Rose Bowl where some USC player does a front flip into the endzone. Then this year USC is dancing on the sidelines. Maybe they were doing that out of joy who knows. I am just tired of whenever USC wins they have to stoop low and make fun of the Big Ten. A lot of ppl have no respect these days so it no surprise.

USC fans mocked Penn State by chanting "We Are...SC".

Not quite as tasteless though as the "UCLA Sucks" chant that started near the end of the game. Many "USC fans" have never stepped foot on the South Central L.A. campus and are only hangers-on until Pete Carroll goes back to the NFL.

i was in contact with a psu fan who was in attendance and he said the usc fans were just as classless as their football program.

but just remember, pete may be having a nice run now, but so did bobby bowden and look where his program is. usc will be in the dumps in 3 years and carroll will be gone like the coward he is. at least paterno has the guts and humility to hang around when his team was lousy.

And Penn State made a helluva comeback when they towards the end fact. Had they more time there would be no telling what would have happened. Winning by 14 isn't a blow out.
