Ghostryder is right on this issue.

The NCAA has been looking into sc since 2006 mostly around the Reggie Bush issue. The violations are serious enough that sc may lose their national championship, league championship and Bush's Heisman trophy.

SC b-ball coach Tim Floyd left last summer due to the OJ Mayo scandal and, barely a week ago, the university hammered their own b-ball programs with self-imposed penaltises to try to convince the NCAA to not sanction the football program.

All indications are that the NCAA has grown some cojones and is prepared to put the hammer down on the sc football program for rampant cheating. I've watched Carroll closely since 2001 and have detested his smarmy, self indulgent coaching style that rewards players for bad behavior.

Good riddance to pete-the cheat. My only regret is that the good guys lost to him the past two years.

Pete will be back coaching a college team again. He won't succeed in the NFL just like the last time. When USC asked the NCAA if they can impose sanctions on their football program and the NCAA said no, that was not a good sign. I would leave too if I were the head coach.
Agreed as a Seahawks fan I'm not happy. These boneheads had an oppertunity to get Holmgen back and blew it. They fire a coach who has a better NFL record than Carroll to get a subpar coach. What about Dungy or Billick, even Gruden had more success tha Carroll in the NFL

Pete is leaving for 35 million reasons and probably avoiding NCAA sanctions, but posts saying they will get shut down is nuts. Florida State, Miami, OSU, Michigan have had pretty big violations and all still played football. SMU got the big bomb dropped on them because they were not a cornerstone program like OSU, USC, FSU, etc. USC made it to a bowl game with a frosh QB and a new O coordinator...I like their chances next year and beyond. It's easier to recruit in warm weather schools...you rust belt/snow country folks need to understand that.
