I think you may need to re-read the article. I partially blame Scott Wolf, as his writing style isn't the easiest digest. The two guys invited to practice have verbally committed to Washington and Texas A&M, not UCLA. Jackson is a former UCLA-commit, current USC-commit, possibly reverting to UCLA-commit. As the article stated: "Some sources said USC no longer may be interested." Does that mean they aren't interested because he keeps bouncing back and forth or because he may be buried on the depth chart and the scholarship could be better utilized elsewhere, or they know he has his heart set on going to UCLA, I don't know.

Beyond that, I think that comment by Kiffin was a bit of him putting his foot in his mouth, and I really hope he knocks it off. I can already foresee a time where UCLA and USC will be pursuing the same guy and he'll get called on that.

Yup, saw it last night, looks like it isn't something to get worked up over as the punishment is a reprimand letter in the coach's file. It was but one minor violation in a long list of minor violations for all Pac-10 schools.
The Pac-10 report grew out of a December meeting of the conference's enforcement committee. It details numerous other violations across a range of sports at member schools, many dealing with minor recruiting violations.
