The Rogers signing is perplexing. I can't imagine smooth sailing with this guy who is a boarder line small time hood. I'll give a man his chance to mend his ways but I wouldn't pay in the process of doing so -- not that kind of money. This signing is unlikely to work. Let's hope Jim Brown finds a way to reach his head.

I wish more teams would go full tilt into free agency the way the Browns did. I mean if your 13-3 or 3-13, use the draft and go for some reaches because you can afford to or have to. But when your 8-8 to 10-6 and on the cusp of the playoffs, do like Savage did to vault your team over the hump. Coming close and falling back is the worst way to lose. FA players are better in the short term while most Draftees are long term projects.

Rogers concerns me. The Warren mess is still fresh in our minds. Twenty mil is a huge gamble for a lineman to begin with.

you hope jim brown can reach him?

do you actually think about what you say? ir just buy into the hype? Jim Brown may or may not be the best running back ever, but to call Rogers a small time hood and the a he gets close to a guy with the rap sheet and piss poor life attitude of Jim Brown is just crazy

yeah Jim Brown makes sure he gets a lot of photo ops and he does raise money for troubled kid programs but he has a long well documented history of very anti social behavior that goes well beyond police reports, this guy is by NO means some one you want your kids to look up to as anything other then a football player

warren is not a 2 time pro-bowler---the comparison of him to rogers is iffy at best. i may be wrong, but i think the guy may be a player here. of course he could be another ted washington---but the price was cheap unless someone honestly believes a late 3rd round pick will miraculously become a pro bowler. and its not my money being spent on the guy---if he busts he busts, just like many 3rd round draft picks.

steelers play the same schedule, rufus. the browns can compete with anyone. looking at a schedule and saying how hard it is before games have even started to be played is an act of futility. good teams win games no matter who the competition is and many of us believe the browns are a good team and getting better---except the steeler fans who post in here, and that group is delusional.

STEELERS will still beat them twice during the regular season and not allow them to make the playoffs. History has a way of repeating itself for the Browns over and over again.
GO STEELERS !!!
Hmm,very good Grump with the quote on history. It seems you for got the history of the 50's,60's and a bit of the 80's. As I recolect those were great historical years for the Browns. So I guess those days are back again. If I also recall those 50's and 60's were very bad years for the steelers. So as every professional sports analyst is saying the Browns are a contender now and ready to dominate the AFC-North. Some how you just don't agree. The best thing to do is just wait and see. Sound good.

Way to go Rusty. I couldn't of said it any better. All sports analyst are saying the Browns are ready now to dominate the AFC --North. Some how all those Shaddyside characters in pittsburgh are lining up with Oldman Grump. He is colorful you must admit that especially with all that mustard all over him.

What about the Jamal Lewis signing. That is significant as well. With the O-Line now one of the best in the NFL, two quality QBs, a premier RB with two solid back-ups, and group of Pro Bowl level receivers, the offense should be among the elite. The D-Line should be able to finally stop the run and free up the LBs to presuure the QB giving the CBs and Safeties less pressure to maintain extended coverage. Special teams with Cribbs is explosive. This will be a great season barring major injuries.

Yep and so do the Steelers, and every other team. You suck. Your opinion sucks. Your favorite team sucks. Your life sucks. You are the center of suckitude.

Usually when a player like Rogers goes to a new team they usually suck it up and perform for a year or two just to stick it to their own team before falling into old habits. Some examples of this are Shaq, T.O. and Randy Moss. I think it's OK to have or two "questionable characters" on a team - the team leaders need to keep them in line. It's when you have too many that you get what you have in Cincinnati.

The Browns are now actually the best team in the division!

and they are scared, i have been reading thier posts about how they will fix the line blah blah blah. and the fact is faneca left just because he wanted out of pisspuke, and your right with the cap and free agency it's hard to tell a schedule in sept. let alone march. Here we go Brownies here we go

You atleast said one correct statement. " You still have to play the games." That is the smartest thing I have heard from a steelers fan or any fan for that matter. I simply agree with you. We should all take a moritorium on bashing and wait and see who is correct. Sounds like a plan. It is obvious that you aren't from Shaddyside. It seems those folks just can't realize truth from fiction. At least you are willing to let the two TEAMS settle the debate.

Does anyone actually know how many draft picks the Browns have in 2008? I know they pick 23rd in the 4th round, which is 118 over-all, but what about rounds 6 or 7?

Tell me how the Steelers have gotten demonstrably better this off-season. They lost Faneca. They resigned Big Ben and crippled their already notoriously not-willing-to-spend ownership further into the future.

Cincinnati lost their two best players from a horrible defense. Baltimore is changing coaches and offensive philosophies, and STILL doesn't have a QB.

I agree you have to play the games. But someone OBJECTIVELY tell me how the Browns ON PAPER are not now the best team in the division. They have addressed the most glaring weakness on their team, whereas the other teams in the division have merely treaded water and/or gotten worse to this point.

I would consider them the favorite right now. Best, that needs to be determined. The first game against the Steelers will decide that pretty quick. I would never say anyone is the best on pure conjecture, no matter how many changes they made.

Evrey year it is the same with the steelers in free agency. They do very little, but somehow almost every year win the division or are very competitive. The steelers know what they have on the bench waiting to step in and up, many of these so called experts do not. Every now and then they fill a need but do not look to fill multiple stater positions by free agency. In essence they build through the draft. Woodly and Timmons will step in on defense, Keomatu and draft picks on offense. A few bargain free agents for depth. Steelers are not scared of anyone and no team should be scared of another because every team fields their best players so no matter who you play bring your A game. Also what real man is afraid of another.
