"One prominent name, Mike Shanahan, will not interview with the Jets anytime soon, however. The two-time Super Bowl winner no longer appears to be on the Jets' radar, a day after the team looked as if it would make a run at the former Broncos coach..."
Are you kidding me??? Not even give him an interview??? |

Yeah--that's right. Do a rush job, Woody. Don't wait for the end of the play-offs when there might be a few more play-off caliber coachs available. Scoop up a few more candidates with no head-coaching experience. That's the ticket. Shanahan might be worth waiting for. Or maybe he goes to Washington. Or San Diego. Coaching in New York (or New Jersey to be more accurate) comes with its own disadvantages. Look how quickly Favre went from savior to Satan. How many coaches would want to walk into that pressure cooker? The two types I'm thinking of are 1) an experienced coach (Cowher, Shanahan)who's been in that type of market and has dealt with a critical media and fan base, and 2) an inexperienced candidate (Mangini, Crennel) who has no idea what he's getting into. Either, best of luck in your crap shoot.

Spag..Lets keep to the course of the Playoffs. Please. Also Forget the Jets. GIANTS mangement...KEEP SPAG at any price. Lets not break up a great team. We need to keep great coaches and promote within. Not let them go of to other teams. JETS you made your bed you sleep in it. Look inside yourselfs for you next meathead coach.

1 1) he has only been a DC- never a head coach 2) he brings giants luggage w/him- how can the jets ever separate themselves from the giants by again sharing a stadium with them and them bringing in a giants DC- can they ever carve thier own identity without always standing in the giants' shadow if they hire this guy? on the other hand, since cowher is out (he can take a hike) and if shanahan or billcik will not coach here, then he's the guy |
