What is wrong with gradkowski as a #2 (qb)? Okay, so they say he is injury prone. But he is a good back up (qb). His problem was that he dove head first while gaining yards and ran too much like micheal vick so yeah, any running (qb) is subject to injury. hue jackson tried to teach gradkowski to slide feet first but gradkowsi didnt listen and got hurt. Im sure he now learned his lesson after sitting out with injury but it may just be too late for him. Anyways, i would like it if he stayed. Even as a #3. But kboller as #2? Im not convinced! At least not after what i saw from him last year. He did great in the preseason but not great as a back up. So, alex smith? I don't know, maybe. And maybe as a #2 but probably better than k boller. I believe a smith will always be a #2 wherever he goes.

I agree about Gradkowski. I like him ALOT as our number 2. He may have been "Cable's guy" but he has proven he can step in and contribute when our starters goes down.

Boller i am not very sold on... but i like him much much more than Alex Smith.

Plus, I don't think that Harbaugh(a known QB coach) will give up that type of depth and experience he has in Alex Smith unless he is forced to make a salary cap decision before the season starts.

Boller has always sucked. He even looked bad when he's had to step in. Gradkowski has shown he can get the job done, but as also shown to be fragile.

Boller and Frye commit too many turnovers. One or the other is fine for #3, but we need a legit #2 behind Campbell. I like Gradkowski as the #2 but durability is the issue with him. I wouldn't mind picking up a veteran that has been a starter before and performed decently like David Carr.

there was rummor that d carr has stepped it up but i still doubt him, specially after being in the nfl that long. i can't say he will never make it cause our very own j plunkette made it. but i still prefer gradkowski. i'm telling ya, he just has to learn to slide feet first and avoid running so much. if this offensive line plays better than expected, he should be just fine. sh.t, even j campbell might make it through the year without serious injury. j campbell showed some toughness here and there. this year he will be more familiar with the probable (qb) attacks in oaklands new offense but, more familiar with his former coach in washingstone al saunders and his last years coach hue jackson. they have pretty much already named k boller as #2 haven't they?

Boller has been named #2 but I don't like him. He has been notorious for committing turnovers like kerry Collins and Charlie Frye (not near as bad as JBust). Even in the times he stepped in for us this passed season, he committed some turnovers that were costly or could've been. Once Gradkowski was out of the picture, Jason Campbell looked amazingly sharp; sharper than he ever did in Washington. I like campbell as the starter, but I don't trust Boller as the backup. I'd rather have Gradkowski as #2. Despite the fact that Boller knows Hue Jackson's offense, I trust David Carr more than Boller.

so far alex smith goes, i think he has said he wants to continue with the niners and even got their playbook. his coach harbaugh has also said he want s to keep a smith there so, we may just have to close this chapter. i mean, unless he has no choice and has to look for a team!
and as far as gradkowski goes, yeah, he has to back off saying he is practicing to be the starter because as you were saying tex, once he (grad) was out of the picture j campbell was fine.

Please don't go after Alex Smith Al. Haven't we raider fans suffered through enough crap QB's since Plunkett? The only cabable QB we've had since then was Gannon and he folded like tissue paper when he reached the Super Bowl.

RICH GANNON was great at (qb)! even though i never really liked him. specially cause i knew of his failing to win it all in the playoffs. he did the same in kc. it's hard to tell but i believe he (gannon) could have won that superbowl for us if it were not for jon gruden knowing the plays and tricks that gannon did to look one way and throw the oposite way.
i don't care for gannon but i can't deny that he played good for oakland. can you imagine if he had won the big one for the RAIDERS? talk would have been different. but that one game killed him for the fans. plus, his crap talking years later.
