While Green may be a servicable QB, signing him is only a continuation of the philosphy espoused by Johnson, Wannstedt, and $aban, that being going after 2nd tier veteran QB's, who are better served as backups. It's high time this train of thought ends, and they draft a QB who is the long term answer. If they can score Pettigout (sp) in F/A for the LT spot, get a QB in the 1st round, and stop this short-term stuff at the most important position on the field.

i agree time to draft a qb. trent had a bad concussion anyway and would be more likely to get one again.

The aquisition of another retread qb again puts our team 2-3 years away from contention. We will find again that we have to start from scratch. Has anyone heard how zabransky is doing and where he may be projected? I didn't see him play but once in the Fiesta Bowl ( I think) but he looked like a player. We need playmakers right now!!!

This is a VERY, VERY, BAD IDEA! I though this new group had a better mind set...I hope I was not wrong. These are the kind of moves that have put us in the situation we are in now. Come on, please don't do this to us the FANS!!!.....

Stephen you are so right on! Trade for high draft picks is what the Dolphins need right now and take the best available QB with their first pick. Brady Quinn or even Troy Smith have the chance to be good long term prospects.

Have the Dolphins forgotten that their last great QB - Dan Marino - was acquired via draft?

I have been thinking for the last few seasons that it is time to scrap short termism for long term team planning. Dolphin fans will forgive a team no making the playoffs for a few (more!) seasons if they can clearly be seen to be building for the future. They will not forgive the current trend of perpetually underachieving veteran teams.

Same old thing going on in Dolphins camp. The Dolphins would be adding to the trash bin if they traded for Green. I am so sick of the Dolphins trying to piece this team together with old washed up players.
For years the Dolphins have been trying to keep their Titanic afloat with a cork and some masking tape.

They have to do something to justify a huge increase in season ticket prices. They got a bump last year from the 6 game winning streak in 2005 and Culpepper's signing. That got us nothing. They are going to lose season ticket holder's over the raise in prices with no major signing. Even with a signing they will probably lose people.

That would make Antwan Barnes 'the only' FIU draft pick in school history.

Ha, I knew ou guys down there in Miami can't take the heat, Its been so long since you have had a championship team. Why Wayne won't let me get new line, cornerbacks wide redeivers and finally an original young draft pick is beyond me. Sorry Wayne but had to split on bad terms but hey its your team, you go right ahead and screw it up for all of Miami. If I was still around in Miami I would have picked a star QB and kept him there so he could repalce the old aging Danny boy. Peace out hanging in Alabama land now...It is really hot though. Say hello to my friends at Hot Dog Heaven, they are the best

The majority of you guys act like this is really going to happen.

It's just more mindless speculation from the press since they have to write something even if they make it up.

Cleo for starter!!!!!!

Wow, I was expecting to see some supporters of this scenario - I am glad I was wrong. I too am sick and tired of veteran cast offs getting one last pay day in Miami. Feely, Feidler, Harrington, Ferrotte, Culpepper (thats just QB). Who ever wrote that the fans will be understanding of a rebuilding effort - I agree. I will be very pissed if we get another damaged, has been cast away as our saviour.

I'd rather invest a year in Cleo Lemon than bring in another wounded veteran on the downslope of a so-so career.

Cleo for starter, does make sense Cleo has to have a good preseason before he can take over @ starting QB I'd try to get either Trent Green or Brad Johnson to back Cleo Lemon up if one of them
are on the trading block if the Dolphins are trying to get the Organization back as a winning team I'd let Dauntee Culpepper be my 3rd string QB unless he can have a "healthy preseason and win the QB Job out right!

How old is He, 100? This may be the only QB that is older and more injury prone than Daunte.

NO WAY!!!!

Brad Johnson for back up or starting QB makes more sense than getting Trent Green out of a trade let Cleo Lemon the back up QB to Johnson, tell Dauntee Culpepper to pack his bags, he did skip offensive meetings last season because of the knee problem, had to have the knee cleaned out durning the season and was put on IR after the knee surgery last season Brad Johnso has won a SuperBowl as a starting QB with Tampa Bay Buccanners when the Rams won their SuperBowl Trent Green was on IR with a knee injury !
