Hey, if we pick up future a replacement for Clifton (Campbell from Maryland), sign Clifton and Taucher, sign Kampman, pick up Thomas Jones from the Jets. Draft Kyle Wilson from Boise State to back up Harris and draft Obrian Schofield, we should have a hell of a year.

I hope Cambell is still there, that guy is one hell of an athlete, the NFL network guys were very impressed with him, as I was too. I think his athleticism would handle the Jared Allen type players. I like the Thomas Jones idea, didn't know he was available. I still would like to see GB draft a RB.

I agree: sign the vets before you draft the "tackle of the future." Campbell is a project. He is a great specimen, but watch the guy play: not ideal footwork and frankly not the best tackle in his conference by a long shot. He looks great and he's fast, but he's not the best football player. He's going to struggle against the Jared Allens. Thomas Jones is poison--no thanks. Obrein Schofield? Okay you homers. Whatever you wish! I'd rather grab like an Andre Neblett late (DT Temple). Cannot wait!

Your right nly, game tape is 90% of what scouts look at, but I think Cambell added a few more $$$$ to his contract with his combine. As far as T.Jones, every team he has been on, players comment how hard he plays for the "team". T. Jones also ran behind the best o-line in football, I think his numbers prolly will drop off a little, but I guess he is one hell of a teammate, and sometimes a player like that can be a motivation for others.

Jones has a history of calling out teammates--and not just Favre. But I think this is more about a roster bonus they don't want to pay. Rosenhaus is his agent so it will interesting to see how they handle it. The scuttle is the Jets may skip the bonus and try to re-sign him. Yes, eric, I've seen Schofield play. He is good. I think that's less of a need right now.

Yes I think it has to do with roster bonus and the fact Shonn Greene played extremely well in the playoffs and his salary is quit a bit less. The players on the Jets don't like the move at all, they really like having T.J. on the team because he has a leadership presence and ran for 1400 yards last season. I think 1400 or so.

Okay, well, ignoring the leadership issue, I doubt we sign him. Too rich for this outfit.

Part one of my plan complete, the Pack signed Clifton to a 3 year 20mil. contract. Sweet, keep going Ted.

Yes. That's a relief. The guy is so much better than he gets credit for.

I am def in a great mood now.Clifton is staying, now if he can stay healthy,as i stated, he is one of my favorite Packers but, i thought for sure,he is asking to much, but, 3 yrs 20M,just under 7M per year, but, its something that had to be done, putting a rookie there is a lot to ask and now
2 games vs
Jared Allen
Julius Peppers
and
Kyle vanden Bosch
its good to have a vet,
Now if someone would sign Daryn Colledge and take him off our hands and we can draft a solid big Guard or just cut D.C.,although Spitz isnt bad, but, a bigger guard would be cool.
Now we have Clifton we can spend a 1st round pick on someone we really need like a SS.From what they say this draft there are alot ofguys who can play SS and not alot of health at FS but we have Collins so we can replace Bigby im hoping.

Like I said when it was mentioned Clifton would get 8 M that seemed like to much, but, just under 7M is still a ton for him, but, like i said with Peppers,Allen and Vanden Bosch in the div. Clifton was a must.
It is interesting no one else even bothered calling Peppers,Chi. was the only one,Guess that signing was slightly obvious .

$ 7 million is market. I thought we made a pretty good deal, especially with our division opponents loading up on pass-rushing ends, as eric points out. I saw that the Matt Giordano era is over. They also let Montgomery go.

Kampman to the Jags, oh well, he will be missed, but at least he was not an anchor on the Defense. Good luck Aaron.

With that cap room available, I wonder who will fill it.

Well with Montgomery and Giardano gone, that's another $ 2 million in salary, so we can take a development guy that we like mid or late draft, let him him special team, etc. We've got good backers now. That's not our problem. Aaron's a good man and great end, but I think we looked better without him out there, which is more a tribute the guys that stepped in and their match for the scheme than a knock on Kampman. He will will fit Del Rio's gang very well and gets to chase Peyton twice a year.
