I Don't want to beat a dead donkey, but since the donkey is Childress, I'll make an exception. Everyone knows damn well Kluwe would not have 'dropped the ball' had he not been run under the bus by his coach the previous week. It was totally classless to bring in 4 punters to workout, as if sending a message to Kluwe... Well the message backfired, pretty much how everything Klink does. He messed with head of one of the best punters in the league and Chris' focus wasn't where it needed to be.
Childress didn't address the RT problem in the offseason and the issue won't go away.
HE made the choice to give TJ the car keys and now he is stuck with the mess. HAd this been a rebuilding year (like year 1) I could see letting TJ take his lumps like many other great QB's did (Aikman, Mannings, Young) but this team had some pieces in place to make a run at the playoffs..
A solid QB, not Gus,Brad or TJ is part of the solution. Gus threw FOUR PICKS to a team of scrubs. ALL of CHicago's CB's were subs non-starters and he throws 4 picks?? If TJ did that. the next day would have been brutal. I guess running a spread offense (4 wr set) against a team that has lost both starting CB's and their Safety is a BAD IDEA???
Last Note While watching the Patriot Highlights on NFL Network, I had a weird flashback... I saw Moss leap into the stands into what I thought was a Viking fan?!! Ohh the memories.. Moss makes most QB's look good....(when he wants to)

Wow....lets see Justin...all a punter needs to do is punt...in practice and in the game...he doesn't have to practice tackling, remembering plays, throwing the ball, calling plays, audibles, kicking field goals, pressure (I mean how many times is a punt blocked)...etc....etc...etc. But apparently they are fragile mentally when it comes to criticism? I got to tell you...I will back most all of you on criticisms of chilly but never against a punter...I draw the line there! This is the guy that was nonchallant about Chilly's criticism like he didn't give a crap...he makes some dumb mistakes the last few weeks and all of sudden it's chilly's fault...that is why I don't respect kickers or punters...only one I ever did was Faud Reveiz...that was real man inside a kickers body.

Cox was a decent sort too. Kluwe earned his spot on The $h!t List just like the rest. Gus earned his too. Lots of QBs have crummy games. So does he. Klink didn't make him throw bad passes. There's a good long list of Klink f/ups. A REAL long one. But players are perfectly capable of stupidity under their own power too.

Kluwe should practice one thing and one thing only.
That one thing should be KICKING CHILDRESS BETWEEN THE LEGS.

Good post
Kluwe' mojo got sideswiped by the coach, so it's the coaches fault when the punter drops the ball.
Childress still has to try to coach this team, but when he tied Kluwe' pinkies together with fishing line....now that's the last straw.
Come on Justin, you can do better than this.

It's Childress' coaching that has taken this team backwards since he came to Minny. It's not just the bonehead playcalls either. It's discipline, accepting responsability for mistakes, backing up the players HE put in place and so many other things. This guy second guesses himself so much, how do you expect the team to react to that kind of leadership?????? The guy is a flop no 2 ways about it. I wish he would have a little self respect and grow a set of nuts knowing that his job is in SERIOUS jeopardy. I just don't see the competitor or killer instinct in him or the team following him. The plan and execution just looks like a bunch of guys trying to get by on just enough.

Terrell Owens put this guy on the map no one or nothing else.

At the end of the day the Kluwie dropped snap happened two games previous. It was not like it was the next game right fresh after those comments were made. So its Kluwie's fault. He messed up. But so have the Vikings almost equally. By that I mean Gus had 4 ints last week, AP had 2 fumbles lost against Detroit and Sharper has not made a big play all year.
Its obvious that when Gus has time he will still throw ints. So get the short passing game going (AP & Chester can both catch) and someone please tell me if they think the Vikes are going to groom Booty as the next franchise QB. Can he do it?
Miss the playoffs this year and WE WANT COWHER!

Kind of sad that the only way for the punt coverage to prevent a big return is to kick it out of bounds... When does the Bill Cowher era begin in MN? Any bets?

Sorry, but Booty's noodle arm will never make it as a franchise QB. The interceptions last week were definetely unfortunate, but when your smacked in the mouth all day (all season) its natural that your going to get "happy feet" when its do or die time. Wish the Vikes would have picked up Willie Anderson when he was available. The way Gus gets knocked around I am afraid T Jack will for sure see some time this year. When that happens watch the total ofense go back to under 200 yards per game.

Fire Klink and hire someone that can adjust on the fly. Oh yeah, and some imagination wouldnt hurt either.

Actually, it's long snapper's job to put the ball on the punter's right hip if he's right-handed not over his head on the left side. That said, the ball wasn't that hard to handle and then Kluwe totally fell apart. He's not the guy that has to go tho. It's agonizing to watch this talented team go nowhere knowing that mid-season coaching changes never produce a playoff team.

Kluwe is having trouble with directional punting. Gee, that's not a surprise, and nor is it a game-breaker. When special teams reaches the point where it's relying on the punter, or the place-kicker, to stop or slow down a returner, it's TOO LATE! It means that 10 other guys on the special team have failed to do their job.

To single out Kluwe as the culprit for all that's gone wrong on special teams is to ignore 10 guys who's primary task it was to actually stop the return. The booters are the last-resort, and as long as they're kicking and getting both distance, and hang-time, they're doing alright.

He isn't worth discussing - get a new punter. He is responsible for losses (and what should have been a loss at New Orleans). A punter should not be mentioned - this means he's doing his job. This guy is just another mistake-contributor on a team full of mistake-makers - and as you've seen, mistakes add up to losses.

Out with him and in with competence. His continued presence shows that winning isn't all that important to this organization (duh).

Okay, so he didn't kick the ball out of bounds and Bush score two TD's... All the kickers fault?? Doesn't "special teams" have the fundamental responsibility to tackle people???

Is there a mental aspect to playing football? Does a player perform better with a positive mindset? Is Phil Jackson one of the best coaches ever because he runs his players under the bus? C'mon 40, playing in the NFL is no walk in the park ..

Had Childress bit his lip and kept it in house instead of blasting dude to the press and emabarrassing him in front of his colleagues, would the outcome have been different..... possibly. Playing at a extremely high level takes full focus and concentration. Was he distracted I d/k... Is Kluwe at fault for dropping the ball, absolutely. Is Chili an A-Hole for running his player under the bus and messing with his head? Absolutely.

Childress should have fired Kluwe on the spot for insubordination, just as Vince Lombardi would have done. If Kluwe is too fragile to play in the NFL, he should stick to Guitar Hero, where there are no strings attached.
