I just got a great idea while reading this PP blog.

Next week, I am going to try our 4 coaches as a replacement for Chilly.

Media stay tuned - I will let oyu know when / where.

From today's PP story.
Kluwe 9 punts inside the red zone.
Green Bay - 76 yard punt returned for TD
Tennesse - 52 yard kickoff return
New Orleans - 56 yard kickoff return
New Orleans - Bush, 2 punts returned for a total of 93 yards, one for a TD
Klink, your problem is not the punter.
It's your coverage teams, missing assignments, not staying in their lanes.
Don't put this on the kickers. It's your failure to make adjustments when you have a history of poor coverage from the coverage teams all season long.
A good coach should figure this out. I guess that does not include you. Maybe you should put Jackson on special teams. At least he would have something to do besides holding the clipboard on the sidelines.
Fix the problem where its happening.
Find players who can tackle.

this was childress just being the classless punk he is.
He never brought in 4 qb's or 4 tight ends or 4 wr's.
He is an incompetent coach who should have never been hired. and too blame the punter is bush league. why not blame the 6 guys who surrounded bush and missed the tackle.
childress has got to go. We need someone who knows what the he** they are doing and to have a kicka** offense for once.
maybe kluwe would have kicked the ball out of bounce if he wasn't tired from punting after all those three and outs.

The punter is only the beginning of your problems Brad.

The special teams can not cover punts.

The front four can not get sacks.

For about 3 quarters of the Saints game, Gus looked awful.

The play calling is STILL suspect.

AP isn't seeing the goal line or the line of scrimmage these days.

And the games you've won so far occurred because Antoine Winfield made plays all over the field.

Maybe AW should coach and play offense, defense, AND special teams. He's becoming our best playmaker. He's already tied AP for most TDs.

Anything but Steckel. Tice I can tolerate. Steckel was the absolute lowest point in Viking's history.
Steckel had no talent..he did as much with no talent as this idiot can do with millions of dollars of freeagents..
Dont forget Tice was 9-7 with half the coaching staff and no big money free agents..
Childress by far the worse coach in Viking history.

This is the problem..no discipline on kick coverage teams. Special teams control a third of the tempo in a game. Look at the blocked kick..but then look at the great field position the opponents KO teams are getting them against the Purple Pain. Our kick coverage teams need to do better, or the field position game will be a loser every game and that could contribute to three or four losses being snatched from the jaws of victory.

Brad Childress is still the Head Coach, for now.

I wish everytime that Childress threw out that darn Red Flag on obvious calls that Wilf would bring in a coach for a tryout.

We won the game and he throws one of the better punters in the league under the bus.

I am glad Kluwe gave him hell on the sidelines.

While I agree with most of the sentiments expressed, Kluwe really does need to kick the ball out of bounds. He kicks a ball for a living and gets paid a fantastic amount of money to do it. If the coach says kick it out of bounds, just do it. You're a punter. Shhhh.

Childress deserves a ton of bashing, but on this....?

The punting situation just highlights how stupid chilly is. If he tells his punter to kick out of bounds every time he sacrifices field position and any chance of pinning the opponent deep. Also once teams figure out the punter is going for the sidelines they won't set up for a return but will rush the punter and try for (and probably get) a block. The only time you can a punter is when he can't pit it consistently 45+ yards down field with good hang time. Kluwe consistently does this but the coverage also consistently blows the tackles.

Fire Childress now!

what a joke of a comment by Ferraro. It was basically our starting D that blocked the punt. Not the same guys that are doing coverage. Compare apples to apples you jerk hole. Sounds like your trying to justify something when it really just makes you look even more incapable of coaching. Well, hey... you fit in with the rest of the staff. Nice.

"The football Talker" will run out of excuses for his poor team preperation. His rediculous quotes ie.(he has a long hose?)(yaaaahh, heese, good at playin in the boxxxxxxxxxx) make me want him out.

It's his right to try out 4 punters. He's in charge. But not to do it publicly. As long as he's placing blame, we could try out 4 new special teams players who can tackle, and 4 new quarterback prospects, and 4 potential head coaches...

Just one more stupid thing in a LONG line of Klink capers. Classless to do it publically. Yes. Kluwe did deserve a private dressing-down. NOT public. I'd never think to do that to an employee. Back in a different time, Kluwe would've been within his full rights to demand satisfaction, strike the ill-mannered, insufferable **s a severe blow, & do pistols at 10 paces.

Everything the coach is doing now is a reaction to being called out by fans. It's almost like he wants none of his players to like him...seriously, what kind of coach calls out the kicker after games when other players made mistakes? Plus - the kicker? Is there an easier target? Or is that what he feels is the most important player on the team? Had he not had undying support for TJack before management pressured him, this reaction might be ok. Now it's almost like he too doesn't want to win, and is trying to undermine the team. Good luck man, you're going to need it.
