No Brad, your error was trying to pin lousy special teams play on the punter. Give me a break. If the coverage teams would have done their job, this wouldn't be an issue.

Considering how Childress coddled TJack for so long, despite his less than stellar performance, I can't help but think this entire incident is a PR stunt on Childress's part to try to deflect blame for lousy coverage teams. Kluwe was the easiest scapegoat he could find. What's he going to do with Longwell, bring in four kickers the next time he misses a field goal attempt?

This entire incident stinks. Childress would do better to spend his time making sure the coverage teams learn how to do their job before next week's game against the Bears instead of engaging in stupid publicity stunts designed to humiliate the punter. What a(nother) stupid move by Childress.

True Kluwe needs to be able to punt out but the other 10 guys need to be able to tackle.

Good call, guys.
Granted, Kluwe's punts should have been either out of bounds or pinned against the sidelines - but, jeez Louise, SOMEBODY make a tackle already!!!

I think it is stupid that childress did this. It is probably more because Kluwe argued with him on the sidelines. He cannot blame a return for touchdown on the punter. He has been a good punter and he still is. Chili saying those punts were supposed to go out of bounds?... That is aperfect world and I am sure Kluwe did his best. But, because sometimes kicks do not go as they should, NFL teams hire 10 other guys to run down there and tackle the returner. I think Chili dip needs to concentrate on special teams and not blame the ineficiencies of a whole on one individual.

In the end it all boils down to one person. Chili and his inept coaching. I truely believe that Childress has long control of the Vikings and he's in over his head. Hope the Vike's don't lose to the Lions but I wouldn't be surprise either.

could call some decent plays our offense might get a 1st down and/or some points and we wouldn't have to punt all the time. Kluwe is a good punter- he consistently gets good distance. This classless, boring, no-chance-taking A** Clown of a coach makes me miss Tice & Steckle.

Childress is a friggin' embarassment. If this doesn't prove it, what would? He makes Dennis Green look like Bud Grant. I may have to swear off the Vikings until something is done about this dingleberry.

Chilly made several mistakes over the past 2 plus seasons and the biggest one of them all is this. Whatever issues a coach has with a player, keep it private and not share it with the media!!!!!

pleeease lose to the lions, get coach canned, send one of the assistants to do the job for the rest of the year. Hire a good coach. Get great draft pick.

or

Win enough games to be mediocre for a mid round go nowhere draft pick like we have been getting.(Save AP) Keep stupid coach and hope for another .500 season next year.

Wilf's mistake is not letting Childress see Marty, Cowher, Kiffin, in his office interviewing for the coaching job, which will have an opening after the Bears Game. Guarantee. that gives the new coach a bye week to install some assistant coaches who know something about 2008 football. I say keep The devensive coaches, keep Bienemy, can Bevel, and ferarro. And most importantly, to Buster Rhymes shegrin, FIRE CHILDRESS FIRST

I have to agree with your post except miss Steckle?
C'mon... As bad as Childress is I would not, could not, will not ever say I miss Steckle as our head coach. Those were dark days my friend, possibly as dark as our days are getting now. Oh how I miss Bud and Jerry

Instead of working out 4 new punters, Childress should have worked out 4 new head coaching candidates. He's crazy if he thinks anyone believes that letting the reporters see the punter workout was anything but intentional.
