Last year I dreaded the thought of our special teams coming on the field. This year with Ferraro gone, Farwell back, Paymuh on board, newcomers Jasper the Crusher, Asher the Crasher defending and Percy, Jaymar/Reynaud returning it should be entertaining. Go Vikes!

The special teams will be better with Farwell back. But here is some breaking news: The Vikings still do not have a NFL caliber quarterback or receiver. Yes, Harvin is showing potential but there is no one else and it usually takes 2-3 years for a WR to develop. Moss was an arbiration. Bernard and Sydney? They would have a hard time making the top 10 NFL team's rosters let alone start. The Vikes are using smoke and mirrors to sell us hope but there is none without a QB. Any high school defensive coordinator can defend a team who can only run no matter how good the RB is. I am guessing 5-11.

stupid move, you gotta potential great offensive player for years to come and you are going to make him return non meaning punt and kick-off returns against players who are going to be super energized because they want to make a team. childress you are surely a knucklehead

I agree w/ Vikeswillwin from Florida. You don't use your pride & joy on special teams, and hope for a spark. Especially in preseason when everybody is looking to blow somebody up to make a name for themselves. Percy catch it and then run out of bounds at the 25, don't try to be a hero. I remember when Chad Greenway was used on wedgebusting on the opening kickoff against Oakland in 2006 and he blew his knee out.

Good call coach.

Isn't this the perfect set up for a season-ending injury for using what is supposed to be a wide reciever as a kickoff returner in the preseason?

Reynaud is the returner out of this group. If you put harvin back there he will cost you at least one game when he fumbles under pressure. Just watch him no natural talent what so ever. Put him in the offense where he belongs and quit being cute chilly!

After suffering through last year's sub special teams play, I can't imagine that it could be even worse. We could easily pick up a couple more wins by these units improved play with whoever returns the kicks/punts. Our kick coverage was atrocious; Farwell could turn that around all by himself.

Harvin as a KR is a disaster waiting to happen. The guy is too slight to do this. PR? Maybe. Think Anthony Carter...that was a gift he had, and his thin build was less a problem there than at returning kickoffs. Herschel Walker-style builds are more what you need at KR. Childress could easily get his #1 draft choice prematurely sent to the IR list.

Hey Viking Fans..... All of you.

The Pre-season is about to begin. time to put your "coach" hat in the trash, and begin to be a fan again. Let the Coaches coach, and for God's sake, you fans, Become Fans. not critics, but fans who promote teamwork, unity, cohesiveness. The Vikings have a great group of players. Injuries will happen, hopefully not too many.

Enjoy the Ride, it is going to be fun.

The only ride I will give these fans is, well, a helicopter maneuver ride.
