We can tell Childress must be on the hot seat.......blaming individual players will alienate the players. Take a cue from Ron Gardenhire........always stick up for the players when talking to the media. They need to know the coach has their back.

The media and bloggers can criticize players, coaches, general managers, and owners. The coach needs to keep his criticism in house, away from the public.

He probably had these punters in because Kluwe acted offended........Childress just doesn't get it!

The kickoff coverage was horrible also, maybe he thinks Longwell was at fault for that!

Now if Zygi would only bring in four new coaches to work out we'll be set!

He gets on the punter's case after one bad game yet he continues to support T-Jack after T-Jack piled no terrible game after terrible game. Childress is a joke, he's obviously trying to blame someone on the team for a mediocre start when all he has to do is look in the mirror

I hope Darren Bennett is still out there, I enjoyed his 35 yard bombs he could kick. I agree with Gen Burkhalter, lets try out some coaches. I am a big Vikes fan, but why would you even consider getting rid of Kluwe, he has been a solid punter. Maybe if they could keep drives going, they wouldn't have to use him so much. But I guess they would have to run more than 4 plays the whole game to do that.

Kluwe is a very good punter. The idiot Childress is absolutely panicing and ready for the rubber room. You don't throw out a good punter for one marginal game. Good punters are estremely hard to find in this league. They need to keep the punter and work out four new coaches! That would be a lot more productive.

way to go Chili..........you idiot!!!!! let's blame the punter because you and Ferraro put a team out on the field that can't cover a punt or tackle. other then the last punt which was a low liner, the other were all well hit, long and good hang time. someone should have a made a tackle.
punting out of bounds may seem like the smart thing to do, it is is just telling your team you have no faith in them(just like when you punuted 2 weeks ago down 13 with 2 minutes left).........funny, they have no faith in you either.
why dont you worry about getting some guys to cover the punts.

They say soccer is the worlds most popular sport, so with all those participants how hard could it be to find the best person who's sole purpose is to KICK the ball? You'd think it would be the easiest position to fill.

I agree with Artie. TJ was horrible and even novice fans detected that he didn't have the tact or savy to read defenses, audible, or check-off.......yet the coach stood by his project. We all know by now that installing Gus was a decision that came down from the Wilfs. Childress and his project cost two games that could prove critical. Childress??? Why jump on the punter? Look at averages. If the offense could consistently move the ball without penalties (either for or against) they would not need the punter to be a game saver by pushing the ball out of bounds (says a lot for confidence in special teams). I think Childress has a place in the NFL, but not as the Vikings HC right now. Tice was better.

Now I don't have any stats to back up what I am about to comment on, but it seems to me that Kluwe is one of the better punters in the league. His punts have pinned teams inside the 20 yard line many times and for the most part his kicks have a high hang time which as a rule prevents run backs. Now saying all that an NFL punter has to be able to corner kick to be a complete punter in this league and that has to be something a punter has to practice during preseason to be comfortable when the situation calls for it. Childress has to accept some of the blame for not knowing a punters strength and/or weakness, but Kluwe all has to accept responsibility for not being more proficient at his profession.

I officially now don't care if the Vikes win out and win the super bowl (I know not going to happen, but my point is...) Childress should be fired at the end of the year.

So Chilly, Klewe is 7th in the NFL in punting right now, just 5 yards/punt off the leader. And you're going to replace him by 4 guys off the street. F**k you!

Klewe missed the sideline by just a couple yards on the last one. Meanwhile the kick coverage has been nothing but horrible this year. It seems two or three tackles are always missed. So Chilly, Maybe you should bring taxi-squaders to fill those positions. Oh wait that would make sense, and you don't do thinks like that, you worthless jerk**f

Childress brings in 4 punters after practice? For what, to scare Kluwe? Nice college ploy Chili!? He's a good punter, you're a good college coordinator and QB's coach. Now take your college playbook, college off. coordinator(Bevell) and college ploys back to college!!! The Big Ten called and their looking for their playbook.......

You don't have to go away mad, just go away....

If there were any good punters out there this might make some sense, but as it stands, either Childress is naive, foolish, or this is a ploy to get more out of Kluwe. When's the last time we had a punt blocked? How many times have we had a punt that came down just thirty or thirty-five yards down the field? Those are the kinds of things that will probably be happening if we bring someone in off the street. So, Brad, take a breath, let Kluwe do his thing, and start working on your coverage schemes.

Now you have the quintessential reason for why I will continue to pick against the Vikings for the remainder of the year. This is a team that can only go one way, and unfortunately it isn't up. The cancer is at the head of this team, and MUST be removed. If left untreated the patient will be on life support by the end of the season.

Maybe we can send the Eagles a high draft pick for their punter, whoever he may be. That way Chilly would be satisfied that he had the very best. I am sure it would work out just as well for us as all the other former Eagles that now star for the Vikes.

fracas....you got that right. good thing we let go of the best fullback in the nfl and sign tepah, whom isnt even on the active roster each week. maybe they should have tepah play special teams and earn his $$$$$$
