Welker is a better and smarter player but his time is nearly over. One more concussion and he will be in La-La land.
Injuries will begin to mount since he is getting older and the defense is getting quicker and cker- e.g 250 lb linebacker are beginning to play slot receivers, safties are 220 lb hitting machines and Welker will have his bell rung once to often. His replacement is not much better physically but he is several years younger.

Football has never been for the frail. It use to be called a contact sport until basketball took exception and also claimed to be a contact sport. So now football changed its tune and claims to be a collision sport. And that's the problem. Instead of learning how to wrap a guy up and bring him down ala 50 years ago, players today hurl their bodies like missles as a means of taking down the ball carrier. Everyone loses except the sports media. Even the fans become desensitized and it affects them and their kids as a result. Not only is Welker one hit away from retirement but so is everybody else.
