HMM! I THOUGHT PRINCIPALS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE RUNNING THE SCHOOLS. MOST OF THE SO-CALLED ALUMNS ARE A BUNCH OF NOBODIES WHO WANT TO SEEM IMPORTANT.

I think they should transfer Mike Virden from Douglas to Ely. He can get those boys back to their winning ways for sure.

isn't ely a perennial F school? Maybe they should worry about passing the FCAT instead of football

The grading system for public schools in this state is based on the FCAT which is has recently been proven to be possibly corrupt and inaccurate.

Dillard and Ely has always had talent on their football team, however St.Thomas has always tried to posses their talents. Everyone keeps forgetting that these are real lives on these fields, everyone is always trying to sell, sell sell and that is what's taking place now. It's not even about who has the talent these coaches just want to look good and they don't even care about these young men if you get hurt they move to the next person and alot of the young men they send in to play, be hurt and they still play them. We are forgetting that football is a sport and yes you can play in college and go pro, but when you get hurt or someone comes along and takes your spot cause he is a little faster or taller you get bench and he isn't even better but because you no what i mean. When a real coach steps on a field not just about winning, he is about teaching then Ely and Dillard will be state champs again year after year like that once was then ft lauderdale and pompano will be coming to look at a footbal game and whoever else, not mess and that's what is has been a mess. Coaches are not coaching they are picking who they want to sell, to these universities and they don't care about who else is on they team that exposure for their high school is what they care about not about the kids and their future only how they look. Most of the boys by the time they reach high school to play the talent was already there they play under a coach and he hasn't done anything to improve them cause the love the sport so much they alreay no what to do, they get on the field and do their thing. Half of the coaches aren't any good, but they get those scholarships and the school don't even make to the play offs!!!

Go to H**, I hope he recruits my kid so he can get a free ride at St. Thomas. The education there is great! I guess you don't care about that, however. THUG LIFE!

We all know some of those players are bricks because all they care about is thugging. It has nothing to do with the FCAT. And "Yes" its currupt but those kids still hang in the hall more than the library.

See that's where you are partially wrong. Dillard had a great coach that cared about "his" kids on and off the field. He wanted to make sure that even the least talented kid on the field got the opportunity to go to college. Who exactly am I talking about... Coach Mark James! You're right it is not about how many touch downs or yards a kid can score and football involves far more than that. To be a TRUE COACH, you have to open your door to the students when the season is over and that was not what the Dillard community cared about. Coach James was there for those kids when every one else was turning away. In fact, even after Dillard made the stupid mistake of firing him without justification and the kids were outright told to disassociate themselves from him, they didn't. My son in particular went to James because he knew that no one at Dillard was going to help him get in school because he wasn't a starter and played very little. Until everyone gets pass the 89 or whatever year that was they won the championship. Dillard will remain stuck in the past grasping for hope. I hope they eventually find it but right now I am just tired of it all!

Shoot if what's her name is still there at Dillard, she is not running the school but having her strings pulled by several people in the community. She was Old Man Gray's personal puppet when she abruptly fired Coach James and replaced him with Gray. Several huge people tried to hush up this TRUTH but it is widely known. Just talk to others in the community.HMMMM I wonder what he and his cronies who were all vying for the job had on her cause it must have been pretty good to let herself be manipulated in this manner. And then after all that he comes back, doesn't coach one game and retires after playing against James. Wow!!! I am not wishing anything bad on anyone but KARMA is a ....

The secret to building a program is discipline in the classroom, then on the field. The administration, community, coaches and players, must commit themselves to excellence, academically and socially.
Stop making excuses for undiscipline players and winning at the cause of a students' future. Fort Lauderdale and Pompano, does not need anymore hometown heroes. Atheletics is a ticket toa a free college educaton. The coaches a both schools must push this concept.

Greta things will happen this year for McGirt. Great coach and great ideas. Conditions are favorable to go from a watch to a warning!
