Washington Redskins Could Trade Chris Cooley To New England

Mar 13, 2010 Full story: BleacherReport 45

Fred Davis emerged in 2009 as a legitimate threat as a pass-catching tight end. While he is not yet the polished route runner that Chris Cooley is, his upside potential may be greater than Cooley's. Having both Davis and Cooley is a luxury for the Redskins, and they could become an excellent duo at the position.

That makes alot of sense, for a team with no true identity, trading away one of the more popular players is just what they need.

Getting rid of Chris Cooley would be akin to getting rid of Darell Green. Chris is REDSKIN through and through. He is Mr. Clutch, the one you look for when you need a first down or touchdown. This would greatly hurt both Chris and the fans. It would be unjust to ever let him go. You don't find many like him anymore. The one who will stay with one team for his csreer. Chris Cooley is the John Riggins of the team. By that I mean he is the cut-up. Chris Cooley bleeds burgendy and gold. My thoughts who was let go centered around Clinton Portis not Chris Cooley. The one Redskin on the roster I thought would be here may not. Dan Snyder, attention: Why not just fold the team if your loyality is no deeper than that. Did you learn nothing from Joe Gibbs. He would never trade Chris. He looked long and hard to find "True Redskins". You have one in Chris. Don't blow it!

Let him go. He's injury prone anyway. Time to rebuild. See ya Cooley.

We should have traded Portis' whiney ass, and not trade Cooley who is one of the few true Redskins on the team.

Why trade anyone to the Patriots. The skins would have the best duo at tightend. With Cooley and Davis lined up at the same time who would you cover? Cooley has been to two Pro Bowls and is the best man on the team. How can you be a Skin's fan and not know this unless you are Dan Snyder. By the way Cooley is not injury prone. Last season he had an injury. But one injury does not make you injury prone.

Clinton Portis is injury prone or just a baby. He is our T.O. and has to go.

The Pats don't use the TE in their offense. This wouldn't make sense.

Yep

I mean Watson only caught 5 TD's last, 20 as a starter. Pats just dont utilize TE's.

29 receptions

26th in the league among TEs.

TEN has 45 rec and 25 rec for its two TEs. DEN has 31 and 28 for its TEs.

They just don't use TEs in New England

They dont

Cooley is the best player on the team right now, and I would say that he is the best receiver. He is the only guy who can get open in the field. He's freakishly athletic and one of the best TEs in the league.

He is NOT an injury prone. He has started every game in his first 5 years. So what that he got injured last year, he is a human being, isn't he?

My decision about Cooley would be definitely not trade him and try 2 TEs plays on offense. This will improve the passing game and the run game because they are not too shabby at blocking either.

And finally about patriots TE situation. They never really used TEs because they never had a good one. And don't tell me that Ben Watson was good. I have seen him drop more catches than he caught. If they had a TE like Cooley, they would be impossible to stop with long threat Randy Moss, go to guy Wes Welker and obviously Chris Cooley. Their team would be more like Colts of the last season with the advantage of go to guy Wes Welker. So I hope redskins don't make the mistake of trading Cooley for the sake of redskins and all other 30 teams.

I am happy with Redskins preseason so far and I don't want Snyder to ruin it for me by trading Chris Cooley.

the pats had used the te more in the past but when u have the talent they do at wr it hasnt been necessary and their line protects well so they have plenty of opps to throw the ball down field. i wouldnt deal with the pats they wont give up much for him. and davis can catch the ball but his blocking is horrible!!!!!!!

Pats should just stick to trading with retards like the Raiders

It was nice to see Seymour tell Al Davis he didnt want to be franchised after the end of his remaining contract only to have Al Davis franchise him anyway

He wants out and the Pats ripped them off for a 1st round draft pick
