hope you all looked at the highlight reel of christian, as I have said over the last year, ponder is a 3rd string qb for most teams in the league. The viking front office is stuck with this huge mistake and will continue to try and make him into the qb he will never be. His arm is average, his body is average, his courage is average and he will never be anything more at the most than a back up and after his contract is finished, probably will be cut. Meanwhile Joe sits on the bench, is allowed to play with 10 others who probably will not make the cut. Joe has the arm, Joe has the body and Joe has the courage. What he does not have is the polish and sitting on the bench or being allowed to play with only the misfits on the team is not going to polish him. JOE NEEDS TO BE THE NUMBER ONE. This season with ponder will maybe produce 3 wins if the defense plays a strong game and peterson comes back healthy. IF WE ARE WAITING FOR NEXT YEAR, LETS POLISH JOE, AND TELL THE VIKING FRONT OFFICE THEY CAN NO LONGER COVER THEIR MISTAKE.

It seems the Packers and Vikings have the opposite problems. We have to worry that our starting QB gets injured. Viking fans have to worry that your starting QB doesn't get injured.

lol, never thought of it that way seeing that I would not like to see anyones career from being ruined, but on the other hand, my opinion is ponder has no future. One thing that Florida schools do well is send running backs to the NFL, Tebow was twice the qb that ponder is, and he is a doubtful qb. Why the vikes ever took a first round on ponder is a total wonder

Tebow isn't a great QB. He isn't even an average QB, but he certainly has a lot more wins than Ponder. It's not good for any QB to find himself compared to Tebow. And when a QB can be compared unfavorably to Tebow, he's in trouble. Honestly, I see moments when Ponder looks good and shows potential. However, I could say the same thing about the Packer's backup QB, Graham Harrell. As they say: "Potential" is another way of saying "he ain't done nothin' yet." I certainly thought it was a reach when the Vikings drafted Ponder. He hasn't done anything to change my opinion. I know he's still young, but how long do you continue to give him the starting job while he's "learning"?

BTW I certainly didn't mean to suggest that anybody would want to see Ponder's career ruined. Not every injury has to be of the
"career ending" variety.

Hollllllld on tharrrr!

The problems go way deeper than QB. The top RB is very iffy and costing a lot of money. There is no legitimate number 1 WR.

I like Webb. But he McNabbed a lot of passes in the first 2 scrimmages.

Back to AP........I really like him, he is a great runner, but its a passing league.....he's gotta pick up blitzes and catch passes......which he can't.

BLAMING PONDER is facile. But seriously?

Not long ago Brad Childress built this team to be run first. TJoke was the centerpiece of the whole experiment. And it was all West Coast this and West Coast that. The WCO depends on everybody catching passes. Last year.....who was the deep threat? AP? Jimmy Kleindropper?

Ponder may be great. Or a bust. Right now he's just a young kid on a very bad team.

A good QB makes receivers look good. When Peyton Manning was the Colts starter 4-5 receivers on the team could be fantasy league starters. When he got injured the only receiver worth a crap was Reggie Wayne and it was risky using him on a fantasy roster. The Vikings may not have the greatest receivers but you will never know for sure if Ponder continues to play the way he has been playing. Watch how the Broncos receivers stats will explode from last season when they have a real QB throwing the ball.
