what a load of crap. just let the guys play, they didn't/don't take steroids and the weight loss pills they did take weren't taken to cover steroid use, it had a substance in it they didn't know about, bid deal, lets use some common sense here.

if a catering company spiked the food they were eating with a banned substance, it would still be there own fault as they are responsible for whatever they put in their body, even inadertantly - right? doesn't make sense does it? neither does this stupid suspension.

There can't be any grey area here, they need to be suspended. It's black and white. If anything, they should be suing the makers of the product they took if it didn't list all the ingredients.

They should also be suspended for wasting tax payers money.

The NFL needs to be put in their place...they think they are a dictatorship and that their players don't have any rights. The NFL arbitrators for this case were the exact people who were trying to cover up the fact that they knew the substance existed in StarCaps but didn't notify the players...its a cover up.

How many of you would be saying they should be suspended if the Vikings were contending for the bottom spot in the division rather than the top?

In any event, if the players were truly warned about the distributor in 2006 as stated in the last paragraph, then they should be suspended.

I agree.. they made multiple attempts to get information on these pills and were stonewalled. Even in a legal agreement, if a party violates a peice of it, but made every attempt to abide by it, then they are always given a pass on that.

THE SUSPENSIONS:
This case could prove to be very enlightening. It almost sounds as if the NFL has absolute dictatorial power over the players as far as finding them guilty, suspending them and fineing them with no recourse, contrary to the law of the land. Innocent until proven guilty. and the right to counsel. I respect Ron Yary and his right to his opinion, that the players should know what they are putting in their bodies. I don't think they, or you Mr.Yary or I, am going to take the time to put everything we consume under a microscope. I think it is enough to read the ingredients on a package, and if I don't see a banned ingredient, then I have the right to use that product. If the powers that be know that the banned substance is in that product then they have the obligation to tell the players, and to totally ban the product.
If I have done nothing wrong Iwill defend myself to the best of my ability. If I have done something wrong, then I will take my punishment.

They were not warned to avoid taking their products. They were told not to endorse the products.

I bet that if you tested the owners and coachs - that they would all fail some sort of drug test. Come on and give the players a break.

From the story, to me 'list of banned supplement companies' means they have banned substances in their products, I think they ought to be more selective about what they take with a multi-million dollar career depending on it:

"Moreover, the league in 2006 wrote team presidents, general managers and trainers, as well as NFLPA executive Stacey Robinson, that Balanced Health Products, the distributor of StarCaps, had been added to the NFL's list of banned supplement companies."

NFL runs and hides with/from criminal intent:

It was a crime of gross negligence to with hold serious information about these Star Caps from the players. There also is absolutley no laws that stat they cannot take them other than they were prohibited.
The NFL is responsible for this and have acted in a dictatership type fashion with holding this information back from the players ( while claiming they did not and there is no evidence stating they did )and are directly liable and open for suits to be filed by other players that have been suspended in the past.

There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer.
