Jets made smart move in getting rid of Coles

Full story: Newsday

Say this much for Laveranues Coles : Since coming to the Jets as a third-round pick in 2000, the guy has been a warrior, playing through sprained ankles, sore knees and concussions.

yeah the jets have a stacked receiving corps. why not cut the best receiver the jets have had in the last 25 years. They have much better options on the roster right now. Cotchery is mediocre, Clowney, um yeah, Stuckey, are you kidding me. Coles has been their best receiver since they drafted him. What a joke. Now he will head to miami to join his buddy chad and put up big numbers down there.

I couldn't have said it any better. If Coles had the mannerisms of Chrebet and accepted what his fair value is, the Jets would be crazy not to re-sign him. But he's asking far more than what he's worth, and is not adding to the team chemistry. So far, I really like all of the moves Ryan and staff have been making in this offseason. Any time I try and rethink the Jets' offseason moves so far, I remember the dropped passes, missed tackles, and horrific blocking of the last two months of the 2008 season. On to bigger and better things, and leave the overpriced players behind.

The Jets can draft a solid WR in the 2nd or 3rd round that's right in their backyard: Kenny Britt of Rutgers...

Solid reciever, catches virtually everything thrown at him. Doesn't have the speed an NFL team would crave, but is worthy of being drafted on the 1st day...

Look, there is a reason the Jets have not been in the Super Bowl for 40 years. They think they are always one or two guys away. They are never going to get anywhere until they start drafting right and living with the mistakes of young players. This is why the Steelers and the Patriots and the Giants are always good if not always great.
Last year, they thought they were a QB away. This year, they still don't have a QB, and they just cut their starting right guard. For what? What are they doing? What is the plan?

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
