If this isn't the nail in the coffin for our defense. Denver was the WORST pass d in the league. This is incredible. I am in utter shock at what we have(not) done in free agency. They seemed complacent that we made the playoffs because they were "building" the team year by year and now after letting Birk go and signing Sage we are improving our team? Zygi, if this is how you "bring a championship to MN" then your full of crap and have betrayed us like every other owner. I actually thought you were being true and honest.

Do you realize how bad the Broncos defense was last year? If he can't even start for them, how is this supposed to help us? Woo Hoo! A special teams player. Now I will rush right out and get some season tickets.

Pay..WHO????

Now that Ferotte is gone (remember Ziggy mandated the QB change). Now CHildress can play his project TJ without reasonable threat (Rosenfel's may not have the credentials yet). Childress is destroying this team through a hidden agenda.

Is anyone else worried that we are going to pick a center in the first round.

big whoop...

no one cares until this team gets a QB or fires childress. I wonder if Childress knows he is destined to booed out of town this season unless he gets a real quarterback

This team is screwed unless they make something happen REAL SOON. Fans will not show up when a team who barely made the playoffs last year does nothing to upgrade the team. Oh, we signed a backup QB, didn't want to pay for Chilly's so called "continuity" with Birk, lost the top FA WR because we were to cheap (and didn't have a QB) and now we bring in a guy who might be on the practice squad. This will be blackout city. Nice pitch for a guy who wants us to pay for a stadium. You did say you "wanted to bring a championship to MN" right?

So far this off season, Ziggy has been a little more reserved when pursuing free agents. Could it be that he has finally given in to the realization of no new stadium in the foreseeable future. Maybe he will ramp it way down, just kind of a holding pattern until the stadium issue is put to rest. He always stood by his original statements of having no intention of moving the team, but with his hands tied with that dump called the Metrodome, this year moving is finally mentioned by team Ziggy.
Cutler would be great, Housh would have helped, Birk has seen his best days, so now we need to concentrate on QB, OL, and Receiver. Another safety and another corner should be picked up as well by either FA or draft.

Can you say new stadium? This guy is huge!!!! Hope he doesn't pull a TJ and split in the middle of the night, while our owner is at the Wolves game....

This offseason has made us look worse on paper. Birk and Sharper are getting old and slower, but Sullivan and Johnson are not ready for big time. Hopefully we can get Cutler and Holt.

It's really hard to believe that this team may actually be worse in '09 than they were in '08. I know I'm definitely not alone in my anger toward the organization. We're one of the laughing stocks of the entire league! Housh got away, didn't even entertain the idea of Nate Washington, may lose Farwell (as if our special teams weren't pathetic enough), have 2 mediocre (at best) back-up QBs, no corners, no right tackle, may lose the Williams boys for a couple games, and NO ONE wants to sign here because our coach is such a douche! Seriously, all we ever wanted was one lousy championship team....and all we get is crap.

I can't see this team doing any better than 8-8 in 2009. They just don't seem to be doing enough to improve the team. I get the feeling that most of the prime free agents don't want anything to do with Minnesota. What does that say about management and their ability to attract top talent.

He's right - the defense is obscenely overrated. The pass defense is absolutely sick - watch us get picked apart again this year. Another season over before it starts - what a waste of a team (with no head coach and owners too ignorant to see that or too weak on integrity to address it).

This is not what I ecpected of the Vikings this year. No One seems to want to play for the Vikes, not even one of there own in Birk. We need a good talented QB and all we have is second tier, or back up quality QB's. Why is it every year we bring in another back up, waste a draft choice to compete with Jackson. Trade Jackson or release him, he will never be a quality QB, maybe a decent backup someday.
We need to get a franchise QB by trade or draft, it will not come cheap, but we have to do it now! I do not see this happening with Chilli in charge, so lets can him and bring in a head coach who knows how to coach, and knows tallent when he sees him!

Birk's departure signals the end for the Wilfs here, and probably for my beloved franchise's tenure in MN. Zygi has given up, and I can't really say I blame him. Our political situation is a complete and total mess, and it's finally stamping its imprint on our NFL team's prospects. What a shame.
