my knee pads are obviously pewter and red...and no worries...tampa will still be lifting champagne every season till someone goes winless.<quoted text>
I saw Chris Mortonson in ESPN saying it's not likely that the rule will be changed. The problem is the refs were recently pressured to blow the whistle early, in general, to cut down on injuries that occur late in plays. I guess we should expect more of these kinds of calls in the future. The rule would probably only get changed if a blown call like this happens in a conference championship or Super Bowl.
To me, the bottom line is, what happened on the field? On the field, Cutler clearly fumbled and the ball was clearly recovered by San Diego's D. I can see the argument that once a whistle is blown, players let up and the end results may not be what they would have been had the players near the ball not heard the whistle. But in this case the early whistle had no effect at all on how the play went down, there wasn't a Bronco within 5 yards of the ball when "Hock" blew it.
I'm just pissed because I had the Chargers plus 1. Far as I'm concerned, that money was stolen from me. And when I add up my totals at the end of the season, I'm counting it as a win.:-)
Anyway, my kneepads are colored aqua and orange. And there's nothing anybody can say to hurt a Dolphins fan that hasn't already been said a million times. We're all pretty much resigned to abother crap season. If they go 4-12 we'll be thrilled.(On the bright side, now that Goodell wants to increase the season to 18 games, the undefeated '72 Fins will likely be toasting champagne every year until the last one finally kicks off.)
One more thing. In my Yahoo Fantasy league, that receiver from Cincy is listed as Chad Ocho Cinco.
Looks like at least someone is taking it seriously.
believe me...i know what it is like to have your team dogged year after year...being a tampa fan for life has been rough...but i refuse to give up...i guess that is what being a fan is all about. a couple of the espn guys have been mentioning a change on the "early whistle" thing, that they will become reviewable under certain circumstances (cutler fumble) in the next season...maybe... something i will be watching
