Mr. Brownfield, like so many other fine coaches from Pasadena i.e., Hamilton, Art Large, Bob Pruitt, Sanders, Duwe, Terzian, Todd, etc.(I know I'm leaving a lot out) did more than just coach but inspired and motivated their student athletes both on and off the field - a message that all coaches, on any level of any sport - in any city, should strive to deliver.
In honor of Mr. Brownfield, Go mustangs!

Jim Brownfield was a man for all seasons. I knew him primarilly through the Pasadena Quarterbacks Club and his Foundation for High School Players and Students. He was always up and full of life. He will be missed by the friends and students he helped with his constant coaching and consulting.
People that played for him will always remember him for not only his coaching but also his humanity. May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him on that gridiron in the sky.
His memory will live forever in the hearts and minds of those he knew and loved.

Coach Smith from Arcadia passed a couple of years ago and now Jim Brownfield. All the old timers from the SGV are moving on. It's great that there are so many kids all over the country who live everyday thinking about these men and what they taught them to be a good person off of the field.

Yes Coach Brownfield was one of the best coach ever. I had a pleasure being on his track team and been a stats girl for the football team. He was very disciplinary but and excellent coach. Not only was he my coach but also my friend. I can talk to him about anything and he will listen to what you have to say and then he will give you his advise. He was your father out on the field and you could not be late. Coach Brownfield i will not never forget the things that you have taught me and I will carry it in my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything that you have done for the track team that's why we have won the CIF-SS Track Title..... R.I.P. Coach Brownfield much love Evelyn Peterson

With Jim Brownfield like his USC football team motto "Once your Coach" Always your Coach" Because of Jim Brownfield, I had opportunity's to spend time with Great Coaches, included amongst them, Coach John Wooden, USC's former Pete Carroll & so many more....
I like so many others he knew, was Truly Blessed By having Jim Brownfield as My Friend. " I Will Always Love You Coach" THANK YOU.
