with 14 million bucks in hand how can unemployment be all that bad?

the hold out, the pouting, the i-can't-play super bowl(IT WAS THE S-U-P-E-R--B-O-W-L YOU TEXAS IDJIT how many of those you going to?) injury all showed that he has history long after the bears said all is forgotten.

welcome cedric to the most irrevelant city in the nfl. the media attention is prolly less expectant of a signed 1st rd bust alibi prone running back.

Really? Is this even a story?

Chicago sportswriters have nothing better to do than trash people after they leave. I was appalled to come to this website last week and see a Rex Grossman countdown. The only people who care about these stories are the self-serving writers who write them.

The Bears DID NOT stand by him with the legal stuff that was proven to be false. You skirt the issue just to continue on your silly agenda of this column.

You say he is troubled, because that is your opinion. A lot of people think he just has had bad luck. You don't speak for all of Chicago, regardless of if you think your keyboard and position at a global website and newspaper gives you that right.

I used to respect you as a writer, but now you are in Rosenbloom territory. Just bashing for bashing sake.

For shame.

F-HIM!! If we never got rid of Benson then we would've never got Matt Forte! Matt Forte is going to be a star for years, Benson is just going to be fat!

Oh **** you, Bumson! You were treated the way you were because of YOU. Your actions and lack of effort annoyed the team, and us, the fans.

I can't wait for us to face you next year. Briggs will snap you in 2, and Forte will run all over your precious Bungles.

Benson could do worse than stop talking about the Bears since it is pointless. Both sides created a bust out #1 draft pick and both sides ended up looking silly in the end.

But if Benson becomes a Pro Bowl back in the NFL wasteland that is Cincinnati our pals Lovie and Jerry are probably and should be history.

I concur...this is a non-story and just a distraction.

The Bears organization are not doing things to improve this mediocre team. I guess the Chicago writers are on the payroll now. So that's where some of the 30mil under the cap money is going.

Is it hush money, David?

Well said. They ran this guy out of town and didn't stand by him during his legal issues. They were thrown out and the Bears looked foolish. Wouldn't it be great to have Benson and Forte as the RB tandem?

Oh, well...

STFU Mgray... as if anyone is going to call on your bet if Bumson flops.

What are you going to bet? ALL of the 3 pennies you are worth?

We already tried the "tandem" business with Bumson. But Bumson's ego got in the way. Want to deal with that?

the Bears are a bunch of racists, they should be asshamed of getting rid of a great running back like Benson. He was on track to being the next Walter Payton!

First Tank , then Ced, who's next...Orton? Oh Yeah, we know your kind

Remember the first year he was with the Bears, he complained about how hard the tackles were when practicing against the Bears?
Now this upcoming season, the game is for real and let's see how hard the tackling will be and how much complaints will he be dishing out afterward.

""It seemed like I was going against the same guys I was going to war with every weekend," Benson said in an interview with the station. "We're supposed to be a team toward a common goal. Sometimes during the week, and even during Sundays, it seemed like I'd be battling my own team, from all aspects some players, some staff and some from higher ranking there. It just didn't seem to work." "
This pretty much sums up what I've seen to be an overly cliqish, selfish squad I'm rapidly losing interest in. I won't suggest Ced didn't make mistakes along the way, but you can only hear so many rumors about fights, freezing teammates (in this case, Ced) out, and delivering unnecessary punishment during training camp before the abundance of smoke suggests fire. All because a bunch of overpaid, overhyped, ultimately decent but only that- decent- players decided they didn't like the new guy since they like the old guy (how many Super Bowls as TJ won again?) so damned much. The guy was kneecaped before he'd even run a play.
Toss in a bunch of sportswriters (not all) who, with nothing better to write about, decide to drum up what amounts to a high school popularity contest to make (non-) stories out of every perceived slight, comment, expression...(Seriously, think back to ever article/radio/television pundit who decided there was some big mystery to Ced's psychology- the guy just wanted to play ball.)
Then we get Briggs's holdout. His most vocal supporter? Urlacher. Then Briggs get paid, Urlacher holds out. His most vocal supporter? Briggs. Nothing against folks getting paid their due, but every extra dollar spent (in the case of Urlacher, I almost wrote "wasted") is another we don't have to upgrade elsewhere.
The inmates are running the asylum, and as we've seen, they've run a Super Bowl contending team into an overpaid, underperforming team that was ecstatic just to make the playoffs in a weak division. I loves me some Bears, but as long as the local media (and unfortunately, much of the fan base) keep kissing their keisters and not holding them accountable, we're going to stay on the train to mediocrity.
And Ced deserved better. Too bad he's had to settle for Cincy, but at least he's found a place where a bunch of grown men don't act like 15 year old boys, and let his effort on the field matter, not who's their chummy favorite.

You're an idiot. First of all the Bears are one of the few teams that have hired and still have a black coach.
Secondly,Tank got waived by Dallas. Are they racist too? Benson didn't perform and like Tank embarrased the team. Rex Grossman was treated bad and he is white.

Save the crap for your black panther meeting you racist.

i have a friend who saw benson come out of a limo his rookie season on his way to the fan convention or something. he was followed by a cloud of smoke, appeared very aloof, and acted like he was ALL that. sounds like a real "team" guy. what's the prediction this year, ced? 2,500 yards? take another puff and maybe your 2.5 yard average will look that way...

Benson reminds me of something that would end up on the bottom of my shoe when I would walk my dog, I never forgave him for holding out for every penny he could get after being drafted and if Grossman ends up with the Bengals he'll just stand on the sidelines holding a clipboard for Carson Palmer, good riddance to both Benson and Grossman.

You are an idiot. This guy was one of the biggest busts the bears ever drafted. He was paid a fortune and didn't produce at all. For anyone that has defended him you are pathetic. You honestly think this is a quality back? Must have forgotten the last 3 years.

Slow news day...who cares what he says! He just realized that if he didn't get a brain he might be like the rest of us, looking for a job anywhere? To all the defensive players on the team, you would have gotten more money if management hadn't signed him...now, let's play that Cincy team.
