Parker misses Steelers' run-first offense

Full story: Baltimore Sun

Willie Parker pines for the old days, when he would line up behind the fullback in the I formation and blast through the line, daring a defense to stop the run.

Parker is right. They aren't committed to the run. 3 and outs, 3rd and longs are a direct result of the pass mentality that this team has. Ben is an average quarterback when he throws more than 25 times in a game. They need to get back to the run they need to wear down defenese they need to be in 3rd and 3, not 3rd and 13.

I LOVED hearing Parker complain about the lack of a fullback--it means that just MAYBE Tomlin will reconsider whether Bruce Ariens is the guy he wants to stick with for the long haul. Fans can complain all they want, but it may take a player of Parker's stature to get Tomlin to question his blind loyalty. Get rid of Ariens, bring back someone like Ron Earhardt (remember him?), draft or sign or trade for a bigass fullback and install a power running offense. The line we have is already more suited for it than whatever they have them doing now.

Can you imagine next year with a big Kreider type FB and Mendenhall following him through the line? Surely Tomlin can see that the lack of offense 2 year running now in Dec. is that our running game has gone west coast? This is AFC North football for godssake, take a lesson from the ravens if you need proof in 2008? what the past 15 years don't count? Get a f-ing clue Tomlin. Dump the chump arians.

You don't think this has anything to do with a drop off in talent on the O-Line?

I do think it is a factor. Our two veteran starters are out and faneca was traded. We have a big upgrade at center from last year. But the fact remains that arians has changed the run game and for the worst IMO. WTF this is the AFC north and we don't even have a fullback? Look at the teams that are running with success right now and that answers your question. Of course a better line would be a big leap forward but I think our guys are better at run blocking than pass blocking given a chance to beat on people.

BOO frigin HOO.

Let me some it up.

You have no O line DA!

Parker is overrated maybe your sorry a*&ss coach doesn't have the heart to tell him. He is not Tomlins guy.

Your Shitsburgh team win on their second rate defense, timely penalties and once in a while your overrated windshield licker makes a play. Not this week.

Ravens 35

Squeeltown 3

Question why does the squeelers helmet only have 1 emblem?

Cant afford it?

Slow Down! I'm trying to get all this for after the game. Oh, that's right, I'll just come back to this site for my after game material. Please, go on.

Big deal what about the second game that we won. You know you never bring those games Bobo. And that was with another rookie QB.

Parker is right our run game is terrible. It is true that our O-line blows but still no FB what the heck. I have said it for a couple of years now Arians is terrible, fired from the Browns now its time for the Steeler's to do the same.

I guess you mean the 2nd game we played you last year? The game where we started Charlie batch? The game where Hines, Santonio, Troy, and Clark were sidelined because of injury or the fact that we had already CLINCHED the division?

Ok, you can be proud of that one all you want. GOOD JOB beating our 2nd stringers!

I hope to hit some nerves for you as well. The outcome of the game will either curb or enhance my banter. Sort of like respectful or ruthless.

well put a feather in your cap and call it macaroni little fella. lol. I bring it up all the time. The ravens won a trash game last season when we were resting our starters. the year before when the ravens won the division they swept the steelers. What's to talk about? We are dealing with this season and sundays game. past seasons don't mean squat.

I agree but I'm starting to wonder if Hodgey and some of the Pittsburgh media isn't falling for the 'what they've done in the past' garbage.

right bobo question. How many Ravens starters were out all season last year? So you can say that you sat players but we had players out for a long time. Besides that bobo you got you a**s handed to you in the first playoff game. Almost like you didn't even belong! Wow!

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Scorpio

Take it slowly today otherwise you'll be almost guaranteed to lose your temper and make yourself very unpopular in the process. If someone is annoying you, you won't need any encouragement to start a row because you're looking for outlets for your current ire and irritation. OK, but do your best to direct your anger at the person who deserves it and not at innocent bystanders.
