Vikes have two QB's better than CN.
Can we get one good sports writer for Vikings. It would be worth a high draft pick.

This is all fantasy! Cam Newton won't fall to the Vikings!! Here are the players that the Vikings could land at #12-
Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU Move Winfield to Safety
Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson replaces Edwards
Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin Replaces McSlogo (McKinnie)
Unless Cam Newton has a seriously bad game, there is no way he falls to #12! Besides, Heisman winning QBs don't fare well in the NFL. Another note, even if Josh McDaniel is the OC, he can do the same thing with Joe Webb and use the #12 for a left tackle!
Trade McKinnie to Miami or Jacksonville! Even for a #4 or 5, just get rid of him already!
Go Vikings~
Yeah he will because he is kind of unproven and he doesnt fit any of the teams offenses that pick before us.

the Vikes will trade down in first round hoping to land two late first round picks or a late first and early second round pick. With the first two picks they will select a db(s) and/or ol.

With their third pick(round 2 hopefully) they will select Pat Devlin qb Deleware.

You heard it here first.

To me the 2 biggest questions with him, or any of those children you're going to make instant gazillionaires of, are:
1. Is he a student of the game? Brady, Manning, Brees, all the good ones spend countless hours studying film, the playbook, strategy, defenses and so forth.
2. Does he really love to play or is he just really good at it? There is a BIG difference. JaMarques Russell and Vince Young were good at it in college but it seems they didn't love the game to put the time into improving.
People laugh and poo-poo at the idea but character matters.

If Cam Newton has a fatal flaw, it's his massive ego, not his lack of speaking skills. In fact, he communicates just fine. We've seen guys with massive egos play for Minnesota teams, and usually they screw up. Randy Moss, JR Ryder, Christian Laetner, etc. But we've also seen a few that did pretty well. Fran Tarkenton, Bert Blyleven, Dave Winfield, etc.

Frankly, I don't see how Cam Newton will not get taken by Tennessee. He does look like the next McNair, if he can keep himself out of stupid trouble.

I am sorry to burst everyones bubble, but, I will go out on a limb and say right now. We do Not need a black Qb. I know everyone will call me racist that's fine. Stop using Doug Williams as an example. He got on a 4 game winning streak and that's it. He was signed the next year and flopped horribly!!! Great athletes just horrible game managers period. Truth hurts.

Newton is going to be a bust just like troy smith was for Ohio State. If Locker is available, they go with him. He is big, has 4 years of experience in a pro style offence, and has far more potential to be a hall of famer then newton. He runs lots of audibles and is extremely football inteligent, a trait that is underminded when looking at college qbs.

I doubt that Cam Newton would fall to the Vikings on draft night. However, If McDaniels signs and we get Newton we won't need a veteran QB. We can then use the money to upgrade the offensive line. If Singletary signs, there will be an upgrade right there without new personnel.(Even Edwards would respect him if we could resign him.)

I think the best quarterback we had for the short term was Culpepper. I like J.Kapp though

The Vikes would be CRAZY to take Cam Newton at #12!!!!

He is a one-year phenom and a project. Tell me what QB coming from that type of system has become a star????? None!

The Vikes do NOT need another project QB, they have enough talent to compete next year IF they can get a veteran QB and make a few changes elsewhere, OL, DB, LB.

GO VIKES!!!!!

With McDaniels, they don't need a veteran QB. McNabb is the obvious posilble choice. Orton is better than Kolb.

God bless you buddy

They could get Jesus in the first round and still manage to loose all of their games. The Vikings are a bad team in a bad stadium in a bad league. Why do you watch. What is you ignorant?
What is with the growing trend of people writing loose instead of lose? Is our education system so flawed that basic spelling is being looked over?

It's even worse when paired with a dumb comment.

There is no way Newton will slip that far. He is the next Steve McNair or even better.
Well, one, he won't go as high as 12 because there are some serious issues with his style of play in the NFL, and of course there is the aforementioned "character" issues. Compare him to Steven McNair, who never won a Superbowl, and I have some real questions about just who Cam Newton allies himself with. Is he the next Jamarcus Russel, Vince Young, Steve McNair or can he truly play at the NFL speed? Guys who live in the limelight in college and who deny all kinds of wrongdoing that continue to swirl around them just don't do anything for this football fan, despite any obvious raw talent. I like the idea of trading McKinnie and going for the big Wisconsin OT. Joe Webb might be the guy, but I'd still be looking for the type of quarterback who consistently has a quality character and a love for the game. I buy into the Jets mantra that there is no story behind the "weiner deal" surrounding Brett Favre. He clearly loves the game. Bring him back for another year. Even on the sidelines it looked like he and Joe got along pretty well.

Cam Newton is somewhat like Tebow as a player (definitely NOT in chracter) meaning he is not ready to be a NFL starting QB immediately. He's athletic and will require a ton of work or innovative offensive packages so the Vikings better sign someone who can do a decent job while he develops if that mock draft scenario does come to pass.

I still think if Newton is available you take him, If not draft for the obvious weaknesses and get your FA QB. McDaniels know QBs. He can turn almost anyone into a leader.
