I still remember the original Left Guard in Bloomington. Have the menu signed by all the 70's Vikings greats!

Well why not. Seems several old packers hang out with the team at the dome now.

I remember going to Benihana in GV and seeing a lot of Vikings and even some Twins and Timberwolves players. Is this still a big MN sports hangout?

While it is true that Ms. Denise McGee operates a fine restaurant, as is proven by the wait to get in on almost any day. At either EP or Edina. It is too bad the media needs to blab that it is a favorite of football players while all they are doing is trying to enjoy time with family or friends. Go for the 49ers and the omlettes, and don't forget the hash browns. Leave the players alone.

In order to win the Superbowl this team is going to have to take it's level of play up a few notches. Here's a few points for Coach Clueless...Learn to pass-protect and to block for the FG kicker. Try using play-action on 1st & 10 once in a while. Run 3rd down routes past the marker. Cover the opposing team's tight-end, they always kill us. Blitz once in a while, sometimes our front 4 doesn't put enough pressure on. Try running tosses & sweeps instead of counters and dives all the time. I also think a few reverses per game would open up holes for Adrian, gotta keep those linebackers honest.

Are you sure? Most of the ex-players would probably be flattered if anyone recognizes them anymore. I seriously doubt they have significant problems from fans or paparazzi. Any current players know the risks of going to any public place. They also know the benefits. In any event, I bet the players are capable of speaking for themselves. People that aren't celebrities have rights too fool. They don't need you telling them what they should do.

Mitch says: I sit here in the comforts of home in Scottsdale, AZ. I was born and raised in St. Paul and lived in Apple Valley until 1991 whereupon I moved to Arizona full-time. Since 1961, I have been a bleeding-heart, true blue (purple) Viking fan. I used to attend home games with my dad at the old Met as well as the Metrodome; I have also been to Vikes games here when they play the Cardinals as they will later this year. Brett Favre, as a former Packer, has broken avid Minnesota Viking hearts for almost 20 years, has led numerous and successful late-game comebacks and truly deserves his postponed but yet-to-be Hall of Fame election. To watch him perform well beyond reasonable expectations now as a 40-year-old purple #4 is one of my most exciting moments as a long-time Vikes fan. Go 'Queens on October 5th MNF and "eat some cheese"!

Have eaten many times at this place, and I wondered why they had all the packers stuff around too, until I asked the server one time and then heard that it had been owned by Max.
The food is great there, but its always really busy. I highly recommend the sour dough pancakes, I don't even really like pancakes normally, but they are awesome.

Big Vikes fan, and man do I miss Max McGee. He was great as the color man on Packer broadcasts and was evidently quite a character. Great sense of humor. I didn't know this was his restaurant. I've dined at some other OPH's and they're very good. Thanks for the memories, Max! I know you'll be watching the festivities on Monday night.
