steelers are doing their homework signing their players and will have more room to concentrate on other positions in the draft.

I want the Steelers to get J Peppers. I know The Amb. to Ireland wont pay for him.
|
|||
I don't know, Jinx. What would they do with him? Bench Keisel? Switch to the 4-3? I think they'd be better off drafting a couple of promising youngsters and let them learn behind the vets--which is what they're going to do, I'm sure. The only real value I see in getting Peppers would be keeping him away from the Patriots. |

Bench Keisel? YES! Sorry man, don't get me wrong I don't have a problem with Keisel but Peppers would a huge bonus on a great D. As far as the 4-3 thing goes last I heard he is looking for a 3-4 team, he wants a ring and knows he won't get it in Charlotte, NC. |

Peppers would be awesome as a Steeler but that dude is going to get paid the big bucks and I agree that Rooneys will never shell out for him. Anyway I don't think they could just because they still have to deal with James Harrison. If I had to pick betweent the two I'd go with Harrison. |
|||
No question Peppers is better than Keisel, but the Diesel is starting to really come into his own, and he costs about half as much. That's cool he wants to play for a 3-4 team--I hope it's not the Patriots. I think if he wants to play for a contender he should stay where he is. |
||||
No way. Julius is still in his twenties, too young for Belitits. |
||||
You're right. I hear Richard Dent has been working out again... |
||||
LOL! And I hear they are trying a new approach for replacing Matt Cassell by bringing Jamie Foxx. Belitits was impressed with his game film from Any Given Sunday. |

They don't HAVE to do anything with Harrison This year, he still has one year left on his contract, they just want to sign him. Next year is 2010 and no salary cap????? |

so do you think they will let him ride this year through? what if he has an even better year next year and his stock goes way up and the redskins offer him 12 million per year or something? I hope they lock him into a 5 year contract and he retires a steeler. the dude is a monster. |

I'm not disagreeing with you. It's in their best interest to get it done now. I'm just dreaming about have four pass rushers like Woodley, Peppers, Timmons and Harrison. Who could stop them??? The words "no salary cap" and "The Rooney Family" used together scares me. Next year should be interesting??? |
|||
lol, I like how you used the Redskins for this example....Perfect. Steelers need to lock him up BECAUSE like you somewhat stated, he may pull a Hanesworth and have even a bigger year this season and then it will be out of control/to expensive. |

He does want to come to a 3-4 team, but wants to play outside linebacker. But at 6'7" 285 lbs...that's the biggest outside linebacker I think I've ever heard of. He's still going to want to get his sacks, and his primary job as a 3-4 end would be to stuff the run and open up holes for backers to get through. Lebeau's defense is not his cup of tea. The Steelers aren't listed on his list of "teams me likey" for more than one reason. He knows we won't dish out his kind of salary...and he won't want to accept the responsibilities we would no doubt put on as a 3-4 end. He's not a good fit for our scheme. He's a great athlete, but trying to mold him into a linebacker at this late in his career would be a detriment to our coverage over the middle. If he wants to come here and play right defensive end for the Steelers, accept his role as an end in Lebeau's scheme, and takes a considerable pay cut, HEY! I'm all for it. But that ain't gonna happen in any lifetime. |

I guess one can always dream. The linebacker combo you just mentioned would get 60+ sacks. It wouldn't even be fair! lol. |

I'd like to remind ya that the Panthers are just a few years removed from a SB appearance. They've got a stellar running game, and above average defense, and a good defensive coordinator coming in to replace the old one. All they need is a good #2 WR and maybe a backup QB to groom to push them over the top, and they could be yearly contenders. I don't, however, like the way they draft. |

Yes...that would be an o-line coverage nightmare. |
