From what I saw...start Caleb Hanie. He outplayed Orton and Grossman combined. Why not, what would be worse?!?
I figured someone would say something like that.

Are you kidding me? Did you catch *any* of the 2007 season, or were you watching NFL Europe by mistake?
He was watching Favre against the Bears. Favre looked like he didn't want to play anymore.

Grossman will start, pass for 38 td's and make the pro bowl.
And fumble at the goal line in the Super Bowl.

Hanie should start, NOT!
Just remember, PT willis led scoring drives in preseason too. None of these games matter as the opposing team is not game-planning against the quarterback as in the regular season. That is when they bring their DB's up to play the run because they know Orton will not throw a 15 yard pass, and when they see a guy like Hanie rub his hand on his leg before every pass play.

Caleb Hanie seems to be worth watching. If the rest of pre-season shakes out like tonight's game did, I'd say Grossman becomes the third-stringer behind Hanie and Orton, respectively.
Not a chance the depth chart will be grossman, Orton nd Hanie. Grossman will have a short leash but.... If our runners Forte etc can gain 1200 yards or more that leaves grossman the time And advantage to throw deep. If that happens, grossman will bring this team back to the Super bowl. BOOK IT!

IF Grossman has a bad game or 2, no one will see him in a Bears Uniform at the QB position again, maybe not even in the NFL as a starter.

Get rid of Turner... NOW!

And what about that great first team defense? Allowed a nine minute drive to start the game to one of the weaker teams in the AFC.

We are in trouble, people. It's going to be a long season!

Hey it could be worse ! We could be the NY Jets who went 4-12 last year and now think they are going to the super bowl with an old washed up has- been quarterback . Does anyone remember how bad Favre has been the last 2 years ? Who cares where he goes. He will bring a superbowl to NY like Montana brought one to Kansas City a few years ago. Not.
like i said before...i'd rather have a has been than a never been in grossman and orton.

its the chicago way, we've always got a HOF quarterback 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart

Start Hanie. Grossman and Orton were awful, as usual.

Not a terrible preseason start. Winnijng these games doesn't matter, you want to see good individual performances. I thought Forte looked pretty good, he ran hard, but probably needs to lower his shoulds a bit more. Brandon Lloyd looked solid catching that Grossman pass. Orton was looking pretty good up until he fumbled the ball trying to scramble. That scramble killed me, it was good to see a Bears QB actually scramble, but the fumble killed all those good feelings fast.

Great to see wolfe do well. I went to NIU and absolutely loved watching this guy run the football. He has the kind of field vision that you rarely see, unfortunately his size doesn't match his heart. I'd love to see him get a few chances during the regular season though.

Nothing has changed. Ron Turner is still and Idiot Lovie is still trying to figure out where he is and the receivers still drop easy catches and cost us the game...

If Hanie continues to do well he deserves a shot at starting a preason game. He has a bigger arm than Orton and looked more accurate than Both. Also PLEASE give some of the young linemen a shot lovie! Metcalf sucks and yes he showed no burst again this year.

Although on the positive side the line as a unit didn't get dominated like last preseason so that is really nice to see.

I take Caleb Hanie's performance with a grain of salt. He's practice squad bound, like it or not. The big news coming out of the preseason opener is disturbing in regards to one who did NOT play, and might be sidelined for quite sometime. I'm very disturbed by the NFL Network story regarding top pick, offensive tackle Chris Williams, and news concerning surgery for a herniated disk in his back. For a team already with a myriad of questions, this is an early red flag for a team that I think will be hard pressed to win 6 games as they're structured. The Bears better think twice about possibly keeping only Kyle Orton & Rex Grossman on the opening day roster.
Chris Williams' back was going to do this, I know I have had it twice. He strung the Bears out pretty good.
Hanie is going to be phenomenal, with a good team other than the Boo Boo Bears.

The Bears looked very poor last night. That was expected with the Dumb and Dumber at Qb, but the defense looked old and creaky. Bears' fans should get ready for the club to finish in last place in the NFC north. Nothing's going to get better until they get a decent QB who can spark the rest of the team. This could be Lovie's last year - and deservedly so if he can't figure out what ain't working.

Is lovie "what kind of f-in name is lovie" smith gone yet?!?!?! As usual...when you have a "bone head" trying to lead your team, youre going to have "bone head" plays.

Bears are trying to play "and 1" football.....now, who's the professor

PS Don't forget that Hanie looked good against the third or fourth team. Young QBs look good more in preseason, but put 'em up against first team defenses and they don't do so well.

let's keep our eyes on this one two punch run game combination folks....Wolfe and Forte could be the next batman and robin if they get along and realize the bears need "2" running backs in this league today. There is no reason why these two should not want to work together for us to get a ring! We don't need any egos here! Wolfe give us the fleety run game to wind the defense and Forte give us that "eddie george" power run game to bang up the defense and keep em' winded! I think we're on to something here Bears fans! I really do!

Go Bears!
