Full story: Chicago Tribune

The pass was a laser over the middle, high and fast enough for any quarterback to let it go without worry.

I know the "skeptics" are gonna come out in force, to ridicule the man. BUT you cannot discount the fact that it is VERY HARD to play the game of football at a very high level when you are no-where near 100%.

I JUST HOPE that the Bears find a way to keep Urlacher CLOSER to the line of scrimmage, instead of dropping back 10-15 yards AWAY from the line on most of the plays.

MAN! I wish they would've given Mike Brown 1-more chance this season. I don't like ANY of the safeties we presently have. Plus his experience back there was priceless. Oh well...

How about we give the man the benefit-of-the-doubt AND see what he can do THIS SEASON? Injuries and personal problems were MAJOR distractions for Urlacher the fast few years.

How about we ALL move forward???

Most overrated player since he entered the league. Just because he is a LB, that used to run a 4.5, and is WHITE he is considered a great plater.

Brigss is 10x the player he is if anyone would notice.

Don't give me this garbage on how many pro bowls he has made because that is a joke. A couple yrs ago when he was D player of the yr another joke because the 2 best players that yr was Harris and Brown.

Right now, the free safety position is a concern with how Daniel Manning will adjust. I think he'll do fine, but will agree that it is a concern. But let's look at the rest of the D:

D-Line: Marinelli is supposed to unleash all the talent that Harris, Ogunleye, Anderson, etc. have not consistently shown. I agree that talent is there to be unleashed and think Marinelli has a great group of guys to make him look like the godsend he is supposed to be.

Secondary: I hear Zack Bowman's name in about every Bears article I read. Manning has another year under his belt, as do Corey Graham and Kevin Payne. Vasher is more committed this year. Tillman will be back by Week Two at the latest.

Linebackers: Urlacher, Briggs, and Tinoisamoa! This could quite possibly be the best linebacking corps in football. And the depth with Roach, Williams, and Hillenmeyer is just ridiculous. The improved play out of the rest of the D will make them look even better than they are.

GO BEARS!!!

Ahhhh ... wasn't it just a few years ago that Mr. Urlacher was voted BY HIS PEERS as the most over-rated defensive player in the NFL? And now, a few seasons of wear and a surgery or two later, and we're supposed to believe he's returned to THAT form? Great!

Brian -- NO ONE was happy with last year; you and your defensive classmates pretty much LOST three games for the team.

It seems like Mr. Cutler is pretty easy to pick off at practice so far. Many stories filed from camp bear that out. Either this is the 1985 defense or Cutler is (dare I say it) human??? Or maybe it's because -- as it has been widely reported and written about for 75 years -- Bears' receivers suck. No QB is effective with gutless receivers who won't revert to D when the moment is called for.

Plenty of good seats for Chi/Den on Ebay!!! Should be an interesting QB match-up, or as much as is possible in pre-season.

It is pathetic the way so many in Chicago have turned on this man....and others. Like a blood sport.

Thank goodness he could care less about all of them.

Yes, Brian, we were all disappointed, too, but at least you're man enough to admit you sucked and now we can get back to real Bears football. And don't you DARE ask for a new contract, or I say TRADE YOU!

Urlacher is the face of this franchise and will have a monster season I feel it. I hope he remains a bear for life.

Cutler on the other hand I am still waiting to see how he proves himself in a bear uniform not a denver uniform.

The defense was downright awful at times last year. The entire team has stood up and accepted that. But its not stopping them from being good this year. The system is a proven system Lovie has been to two superbowls with it. He lost to Manning and Brady. And we all know that New England may have had an eye in sky!And I still believe that if moose muhammad makes any effort on the hayden pick the bears win. So the it comes down to performance and injury which as player, coach or fan is all you cn ask for.

Remember how Urlacher is raving about Cutler when Cutler is gone and the Bears try to fill the next quarterback slot with another "Grossman" type-small money, small talent, small results.
Glad Urlacher is back Ray Lewis had a couple poor years and he says he can play for 4 more years.
