You've thrown a lot "up against the wall," too much to respond to. But I will say that the biggest issue over the years that I have seen with the Vikings is very bad decision-making at the most inopportune time ... across the board. Things like the Herschel Walker stuff in the old days, and all the stuff of recent times. Either Ownership or the GM (or both) made the decision to hire Chilly, and in the final analysis, a lot of inept decisions happened during this period (12 men, Favre, get Moss/dump Moss, etc). I'm calling the Favre thing a mistake simply because it failed. It was a very high-risk bet that HAD to succeed right away or it was over. It turned out to be over.
The reason that top-to-bottom decision-making is so critical is that much is at stake, and it determines the future. Mark Murphy decides to hire Ted Thompson. He in turn hires Mike McCarthy. THEY in turn decide it's time to move on from Brett Farve and start the future. The rationale for their thinking is unimportant. What is important is that they made a HUGE decision, and not an easy one considering the wrath and second guessing that would come from PackerNation. Careers would be "on the line." But nonetheless, they made THE DECISION.
Maybe they simply got tired of BF holding the team hostage each year. Or maybe they saw his skills diminishing a bit. Or maybe they looked at his playoff record which really wasn't very good as of late: under Holmgren (93-97 / 9 wins & 4 losses),(from 98-2007 / 3 wins & 6 losses). Maybe that pick in the Giants game said it all. But nonetheless, they made THE DECISION and you decide if it was a good decision.
The Viking organization needs to start making good decisions from the top down. It's very hard to go from a Conference Championship game to 6 & 10 in one year, with essentially the same team. You almost have to try. Make no mistake ... this team is in shambles. I can think of no positive signs, including AP. I'm afraid the Vikings did not make a good decision in hiring Frazier either. If he was in charge of the defense in 2009, and then in 2010, and it was basically the same defense, then he had no clue as to what was wrong or how to fix it throughout 2010. If he couldn't fix "his" defense, how is he going to fix the whole team? Personally, I'd have fired the GM and let him select his head coach.
I'm running way over .. I apologize. I'll conclude with this. There is cause to cheer-up! The Oakland Raiders and the Detroit Lions appear to have turned a corner this last season. Hey .... it's only been m-m-m-m ... decades! It could happen sooner for the Vikings.
I agree that they never make big decisions either,,and frazier was not a good hire 4 everything you said,,this team from the front office down never has had a clue on how to run a team!!! no qb now is gonna dismantle this group completely!! webb is not a nfl qb!!! you cannot just plug a punt returner in at qb because he threw a spiralin practice,,but thats what they just did!! now if a white rookie qb gets drafted the team backlash will hurt him,,theres always a fractured team when a black qb is not playing well and hes getting replaced and to make it worse the guy replacing him will be a rookie who will lose you some games while he learns!!! maybe they find the next marino who probowls his rookie year!! im not holding my breath!! they are where you said!! they need to make some big decisions now and they wont!! ziggy wants the stadium so hes trying to please everyone!! that means no big commiments to turning things around!!! this is such a hard team to pull for!!!,,when I post the truth other well meaning but clueless vike fans call me a pack or other fan!!!,,if only it were that simple!! last years title choke still wakes me up at nite!!hahaha,,they were so tight it was crazy!! 5 lost fumbles and 2 picks in 30 mins and 12 seconds,12 man huddle and a pass interfer that didnt happen ended it in ot!!!! take care paris

You cannot possibly be a Vikings fan. Get your facts straight...you actually thought Flynn played well. Look at all of the injured players that the Patriots had in that game and what a finish by the care-free Flynn and that last play with time running out and getting smacked by Tully Banta-Cain. Great.
hi vikes !! and I do go all the way back to tark with this team!! quickly flynn did a good job against NE in that he kept it close and gave it his all,,he was in over his head and blew it late but did you think that game would be close without rodgers!!!!!!!!!! thats why there champs now,,they believe and keep coming!! the pack had more injured star players than the pats also if you recall!!! dont want to argue or fight about it but all I'm saying is they need a real qb!!! not a slash,,they never work ,,dont trust it now!! coming after 4 years of tjack your ready to go webb????? thats why this team never wins,,they dont know what to do ever!! brett coming in and electrifying that offense last year should have told you everything you need to know!! we need a real qb not a punt returner who also takes snaps under center!!! nothing against webb he might be a great guy but he was not projected to be drafted at qb and chili took a wr flyer!! now what are the odds he becomes brees, brady, or rodgers,,come on man look at it clearly,,we need a leader!! and now is when we need it!!! this team completely quit this year!! frazier couldnt get that d to wake up!!they should have fired everyone including the gm team!!spielman,,studwell,, stud roomed with tommy kramer while they were teammates and theyre still best friends!! how does he not see that we need a leader!! he talks to our 2nd best qb ever routinely,,and still this joke of a group dont know how much a good leader is worth!!!!! tommy won games with inferior talent around him because he inspired his friends to play hard!! with the talent we have now,,brett showed you what a motivated leader can do for us!!! 43 years I've been here and still waiting for them to get it right!!! we need a qb!!!!!! NOW!!!!!

If the Vikings are worried about their defensive tackles, pick up shaun Rogers.

How does this team not make it happen:

One of the best field goal kickers: Longwell

One of the best QBs: Favre

One of the best RBs: Adrian Peterson

One of the best defenses: 2009

As Lombardi once said: "What the hell is going on out there?"

Don't sign Favre again. We had enough of him in Green Bay. He's a glory hound over the hill jerk.
