I hate to be pessimistic, but the Vikings' defense is really in tough shape. Clearly, Childress is concerned about Williams' shoulder, and doesn't want him to play. If he does try to play, he'll be back on the sideline after one or two series, and then will be of no use to the team even if they do get by the Eagles. Without Edwards or Williams, Philly will be able to wear the defense down & have their way with them by the fourth quarter. T-Jack will be forced to try and come from behind late in the game, and when that happens he invariably turns the ball over.

So Fred Evans plays a "different game". Apparently that means a different game than nose tackle. That position would be "nose sieve".

I sure seemed to see Jimmy Kennedy in there a lot against the Giants. The problem is that while he does seem to be able to plug the middle, his agility is zero. Everytime I looked, he ended up not pursuing the play, but on the ground, trying to get his fat butt back upright again.

Hey Jimmy! get some Vitamin D3, it helps tremendously with your balance!

The most notable problem with the Vikings isn't the play style difference with Evans, but the lack of production from their middle linebacker.

The Giants pounded the middle of the Vikings defense, but Harris only accounted for 2 tackles. He has been a no-show game in and game out. Williams made up for his lack of production during the season....even if Williams plays, the Eagles will find a way for Westbrook to get to the second level of defense.

The Vikings need to address this now, or it will be a one and out playoff season!

E J Henderson, Pat williams, Ray Edwards are the three defensive losses that will make winning difficult on Sunday, but Colo. Stink will be the dirrect reason the Eagles win 30-17. If your a Vikings fan and have watched all or most of Chilly's games as head coach, a decision to make a coaching change doesn't seem all that difficult. Lack of preperation, lack of imagination, and on and on. Pat Bowlen fires Coach Shanahan and Ziggy hugs empty melon after waisting 50 seconds or more on the last drive. Maybe its not Bad Brad but the Wilf Brain Trust.

He might as well play because they will probably lose without him. If he does play and the vikes lose, he has till next year to rehab. BUT, they will face Jacobs/Ward in the second round. So, it is a catch 22. Sux that the vikes have no depth at the position!

Play the Dumb A--. He is just a football player after all. When he is done he will just be yet another low life sucking welfare from what ever state he ends up in. What else does he have to live for? Play, the Queens will lose and then we don't have to hear from the sorry retards until next year when they come mooching for the bailout.

I'm very happy to hear that Rat will play this sunday. The kind of guy he is with a lot of pride, integrity, hard work-- he will made a huge different against Eagles. By the mean time Brad is around the corner and building a Superbowl team. Great improvement. Vikings must attack the ball and mcnabb. Strong showing expected from defense. Especially Pat,Kevin, Allen, Hutchinson. Vikings lost 7 out of 8 times against eagles. Brad is coming from eagles and knows eagles. He needs to win this game.

Sorry Pal. NOT a packer fan or Pro football fan. The whole deal could dry up and blow away and I would be a happy Man.

Now let's play golf and real man's sport.

the running attack of the eagles is non existent, so fat pat will not be super pertinent in that aspect. what will hurt us is on the pass pat allows jared and kevin to face single blocking more often and really get pressure on the QB. harris is not doing a good job in the middle...at all.

I believe Andy Ried is Honest in his assesment of Fred Evans rather than being "Diplomatic". If you were to view the past two games you would relize a major part of the problem is sure tackling. Not so much as Pat Williams being out, don't get me wrong, he's an exelent Football Player but we must do a better job in the fundamental erea of tackling. Everything Andy said about Fred is absolute truth, in the end its about team effort and doing the little things(tackling) at a Professional Level. If we need Pat's Leadership to do that we could be in serious trouble come the future. Players need to pick up there game, especailly if we really want to continue in the tournament.

Imagine what our D will be like next year with EJ and Pat at full strength. We need Peppers to complete the Front.

I don't understand why Sean Jensen thinks that Reid is cutting on Fred Evans. How many nose tackles in the NFL are a good as Pat Williams? Maybe three or four? And now we're upset because two of the best running teams in the league have 'gashed' us for 233 in the last two games in Williams' absence?

I've already posted this under another story, but I'm not worried about the Eagles' less than stellar running attack. Brian Westbrook is as, if not more dangerous as a pass receiver out of the backfield. The defense's ability to contain him will determine whether Philly can move the ball. Without Westbrook, McNabb is toast. I'm not sure I'd risk Pat Williams in this game. If we win, we go to Carolina to face another outstanding running team, and not having Pat in that game would be a killer. As for the Eagles, turnovers will likely decide the game; the question is, which team will commit them?

One more thing: I'm not the biggest Childress fan around, but we just won our first division title in eight years by winning nine of our last twelve games. Sure, five of those were by four points or less (including two over the Lions), but we won the games. The Vikings have a double-digit victory total for the first time since Dennis Green. Let's enjoy it, and root for a win on Sunday.
