Stop overbuidling and overpopulating the state for one thing. The CFLs even cost more. I can go into a store and buy a reg 3 way light bulb for x number of dollars and not be broke. I can buy a 3 way cfl and pay 15.00 for that same bulb. Will have to stay with reg bulbs. Aside from that, the cfls contain more mercury and watch how you clean those up if they break. With that said, are there not clean coal burning plants? The push is for green - everything green but not all scientists believe the global warming crisis. It sure is a great way for folks to make a heck of a lot of money though.

Why are we sending money to Mexico and Utah instead of building alternative energy plants right here, where they could create good jobs?

Actually the CFLs last longer which makes up the difference as I have just started replacing the ones I installed about 5 years ago. The downside is that they, like all fluorescent lamps have mercury in them so that is an environmental issue. The problem is that we have not faced reality as to energy needs and the means of providing it. California has outsourced energy production to adjacent states to keep our carbon dioxide emissions low.
Carbon dioxide is a natural component of the atmosphere, not a pollutant. If we invest in carbon sequestration technology and plant more trees which absorb CO2 we can build power plants using American coal and reduce our dependence on oil. We can also start constructing nuclear plants to replace oil and gas fired facilities. To be honest geothermal is unproven and the environmental affects are not determined. Wind and solar are not practical for mass generation and honestly are really just pie in the sky technologies.

Watching the politx of California over the last 3 years with the Governor, 2 Sr. Senators looking out for DC's best interest, do we stand a chance of leading the forefront of Green Technology in California? They have their eyes set on super highway trains (prop 10). Not the option I want my vote to go to. Why propose to spend 10 billion on a super fast train to nowhere? Remember how much we were promised on the casino props? What is happening there? NoMO money is what. Prop 11 can burn too. Bad.
Why DO WE send money to Mexico & Utah? What are they building there? Why is there not more disclosure as to what deals Gov. Arnold has held forth with local governors from the Mexican Border?
Whatever the plan, sounds like we best place our resumes in the hands of Pemex and see what green options lie there.

This panic over the global warming hoax is disgusting. Even if we cut back emissions to 18th century levels as the jackass environmental zealots want, one belch from China will blow us out of the water, so the polar bears are still dead.
Meanwhile we're crippling our economy, our taxes and other costs of living skyrocket, job-creating businesses head for Nevada, and our California lifestyle continues on the road to the third world.
Why don't we just shut down the DWP and let the Mexicans run LA on donkey power?
