That's half of the best college football team in the country. Alas, one half doesn't make a whole, which is why even after yet another impressive defensive performance by USC Saturday night, the Trojans will ...

USC needs an offensive coordinator. It has to be organized as a team. The multiple backs are detracting from a planned attack. The play calling is atrocious. The multiple penalties are unforgivable.

Its a darn shame that the voters(people who should know football)don't consider defense as
a major part of a GREAT football team. What became of the old sage remark "A great defense
is the best offense"? You saw what happened to Oklahoma when they met a good offense,
with a good defense too. They got beat by 45-35. Its going to happen to Alabama also. They
don't play defensive football in the south/southwest. And you don't see any of them coming
out west to play pac-10 teams from the upper half of the leagues either. They are fearful
of them in the preseason learning process.

The first commentator did make a very good point. That the offensive coordinator was and is
responsible for adjustments of the offense during a game. The Oregon State fiasco was a
perfect example of whats called a coache's loss, rather than a team loss. They took two hours
(about 30 playing minutes) to make adjustments for a midget running between the legs of the
defensive team. A freshman coordinator was responsible for that outcome. I just hope the
possible surprises at Stanford do not cause the same reaction time results. The third quarter
should have happened in the second quarter.
