Gee, thanks a lot to the Big 10 for sending yet another piece o' crap team to the Rose Bowl. God almighty your conference stinks. How embarrassing.

A Big Ten school losing the Rose Bowl – now that's a shocker.

Look at the bright side Illinois fans. The last time you played in the Rose Bowl you lost by 34 points. This time you only lost by 32. Things are headed in the right direction. By with way, USC has now won 13 Rose Bowls since Illinois won their last one in 1964 when LBJ was president. Real domination Illini.

Although Illinois had a very good year this game was a mismatch. BCS rules would not allow a conference to have more than two teams in BCS Bowls. Missouri should have been in the BCS Bowl ahead of Illinois. They beat Illinois and had only two losses, both to Oklahoma.

Illinois is a young team. They were outclassed in every aspect. Let's not it's not 25 years before they appear in another Rose Bowl. It's been a great season for Ron Zook's Illini.

I am upset that USC attempted to score again as time ran out. Sure, you are trying to make a statement that you deserved to be ranked #3 or #4, perhaps that you should be in the National Championship game. But isn't 32 points enough? Evidently not for the Trojans.

Congratulations to the Fighting Illini on a very successful football season!! Even though they did not win this evening, I believe that Coach Ron Zook has this team on the right path to be a perennial powerhouse. I am definitely looking forward to the next season and hearing great things about this team.

Great quote, I'm trying to remember the last Big 10 team to win a Rose Bowl, and I'm having a little difficulty. Was it Wisconsin in 1999?

Wow... haters from Southern Cal, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. I didn't realize Illinois had offended so many.

Sorry to provide such inferior competition year-in and year-out, Trojan fans. Try not to choke away two games per year, and you won't have to settle for the Rose Bowl every year.

Notre Dame fans shouldn't be squawking about poor bowl records.

Hey, Mark--will it be progress if the Buckeyes only lose the championship game by 25 points this year?

Bad ending to a great year for the Illini. Here's hoping January bowl games come a little more frequently for them from now on.

One thing is for sure. USC owns the Big 10. This is 4 BCS wins against Big 10 teams in the last 6 years. Each by at least 14 points. Ohio St. is just lucky they got to go the the national championship instead of getting pasted by USC.

The article didn't mention the two 'taunting' penalties the classy USC team got.

No question they beat Illinois, and soundly, but if USC wants to be considered among the elite, they need some more class.

By the way. How big was that hole that Joe Mc Knight ran through on his short TD run. I think Ron Zook's grandmother could have run through that opening. Kudos to the Illini D for only giving up 633 yards.

As a lifelong Longhorn fan and alum all I can say is hahahahah you got told by some guy representing a school that is so backwards they'd have a black couple jump a broom at halftime if they thought it stirred up school spirit.

You must think you're pretty clever there Philip. Well Philip, it must be REAL great to be from SoCal. You phony. So what if the Illini got smoked in this game ... like there was going to be any other outcome. Everyone knew USC was going to outgun this young Illinois team ... like much of the USC team, act like you've been here before, because you have and likely with the talent thats been recruited the Trojans will be there again. Illinois played hard and just doesn't have the talent or experience that the Trojans have ... you're just a buttclown.

I was at the game and it was great meeting all the Illini fans that made it out to sunny LA for the game. Great season and best of luck next year. You were just over-matched by the mighty Trojans tonight. FIGHT ON!!!

Too bad LSU is going to roll up that vaunted OSU defense in a week ... doesn't matter what Illinois did in this game ... it was a throw away contest on paper and on television, whereas the Buckeyes haven't found a way to beat the SEC and will get beat again by a much faster and more talented LSU squad. OSU was No. 1 by default this year and this game will prove that.

Uhh, the B10 is 9-7 against the the "mighty" SEC the past 3 years (and this bowl season thus far).

What does that make the SEC?

Plus, the no.1 Pac-10 team played the no. 2-3 B10 team - which really isn't that diff. from USC crushing ASU (the no.2 Pac-10 team) a month or so ago.

Mizzou would have also been crushed by USC (just as they were handily beat by Oklahoma).
Remember Mizzou barely beat the Illini early in the season (5 Illini turnovers, including one at the goal-line which was returned the other way for a TD).
Nonetheless, Mizzou should have been in a BCS game instead of Kansas which doesn't a single respectable win this season.

While the Bucknuts may very well lose (since, afterall, it's an LSU home game)- it'll be a close game.

And sorry - the whole SEC speed thing is an overblown myth (otherwise, why would the SEC have a LOSING record against the B10 in bowl games the past 3 years?).
