Yeah, it is obvious the former recruits were overrated. Otherwise, it would mean that the coaching staff is.

The cupboard was not bare when RR came in, despite what he says. True a lot of top rated players left, but he did not avail himself of the talent he had. Trying to force players into a system that they were not capable of running and refusing to bend his system to accomodate them has cost them "big time". Piled on to that all his other "problems" you have a recipie for disaster.
Could not have happened to a mor deserving person- the man is ethicall and morally bankrupt!!!

Many of the difference makers in Michigan history came from Ohio. Shut off the pipeline and wins start to run dry. John Kolesar, Elvis Grbac, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Thom Darden, Ricky Powers, and on and on. No Buckeyes, no W's.

Other than a few people on these Topix boards who for some reason aren't paying attention to history, I don't personally know -anyone- who is ignoring you. Quite the contrary many are, if not outright concerned, wary that a quick start by a team that has shown it is capable of quick starts will make this quite a ballgame. And I definitely don't see many people who believe your team's current status will remain the same - unless, of course, you decide to keep RichRod, which I as a Buckeye fan fervently hope you do.

It's been a few years now since we've burned any couches around here, but if we win today I promise I will singe an ottoman in tribute. Go Bucks!

It will take another 3-4 years for the programs to recover D Rod's departure.

Blaming failure because of lack of talent at a top rated program like Michigna is a red flag about this coach.

Sounds very similar to Weiss at ND they both have excuses for being losers.

Agreed. The last OSU coach to blame the talent when he came in was Cooper (comments about too many slow white guys). As a result he never had the absolute respect he needed from his players. That eventually led to his departure - it was not the win loss record, but the problems with player behavior on and off the field. This situation could repeat itself up north.

from now on Michigan will have another competitor in Cincinnati for top Ohio players who don't go to OSU

As Michigan does have the ability to look at their mistakes, but always tries to find excuses to blame on their failure. I feel bad for the Michigan fans, but they were the ones who had signs and cheers for OSU to KEEP Cooper. Now the shoe is on their foot.

You hit the head on the nail.

I would bet my last dollar that Lloyd Carr would not have been 3-9 last year and 5-7 this year. RR was a horrible hire from day one and UM will be in the toilet for a few years after he is canned and the school is on NCAA probation.

UM football is gonna be fine. Give Coach Rod some time to recruit and get his system settled in. Everyone knows it takes more than two years to install a proper program. Time to man up and go blue.....
