He's a solid upgrade from Anderson and Quinn.

Why would a team that is at least 2 years from playoff contention sign an old QB and dump 2 promising young ones??????????

Promising? Promising what, disappointment?

Delhomme provides veteran leadership.

I completely agree. Delhomme will watch over the offense while we groom our QB of the future. That gives us two years to get the new QB ready for playing in the NFL.

Anderson had one good year and that just so happened to be a contract year when he had a ton of good receivers around him. Anderson was not some awesome player that deserved 7 million dollars per year. Don't forget that he couldn't beat some guy named Charlie Frye in training camp for the starting QB job. No promise here, just a dead end.

Quinn is a great guy, we can all agree on that. But he is also just another dead end. He's not the awesome QB everyone think he is, and its a miracle we got anyone for him at all! As a QB you do not have promise when you hit receivers with your passes in their feet. 4 yard completions are not the "future" of football, they just mean as a QB you stink. I'm glad we traded Quinn, it was a gutsy move and ultimately the right move.

Delhomme is not the QB of the future, and you know absolutely nothing about football if you think that's why he was brought in. He was brought in to provide veteran leadership while our next QB learns the system and the NFL. If Delhomme flops, Wallace can hold us over until the new QB can go.

I love what's been done so far at the QB position. Let's hope we get it right in the draft too.

March 16th, 2010- By Bryan Cross

The Cleveland Browns got their newest signal caller, and Mike Holmgren said that the veteran Jake Delhomme is the guy they needed.

Despite coming off the worst statistical season of his career, Holmgren cited the 92 starts, Pro Bowl, and his Super Bowl appearance that Delhomme has under his belt, and believes that he is the type of player needed to be present in the Cleveland locker-room.

“My own belief is this team needs an aging veteran,” Holmgren remarked.“They need a guy that is going to grab everybody by the throat and say,‘Follow me through that door.’ I don’t look at him as an aging veteran, I look at him as the leader I wanted.”
