Tim Tebow vs. Kyle Orton: 5 Reasons Orton Beats Tebow for Starting Gig

Well it's been a couple of weeks into training camp, and Kyle Orton remains the front man in the Denver Broncos offense.

Nothing against Kyle Orton, but what would be different this year compared to last year. Give Tim Tebow a chance as the Quarterback the beginning of the season. If Tebow doesn't produce no harm no foul except maybe 2-3 games lost. If his team mates support him he can go far. Or better yet whomever starts and the Bronco's wind up 2-3 games down, then it just isn't the Quarterback's fault. Just my 2-cents. I hate thinking like a couch quarterback. Let's do the opposite of what our opponents are thinking. Do the unexpected for once.

Denver is in full rebuilding mode with a modestly talented QB. How modest? Something like 20 TD's and 8 interceptions leading to 3 wins in 13 games. The same QB Tim Tebow was drafted #1 two years ago to replace.

That's the Tim Tebow that went 1-2 after Orton went 3-10. The same Tim Tebow that will be put back on the bench for Orton, the journeymen QB (talent wise) no other team in the NFL is willing to give a 3rd round pick for.

How about this. Trade Tebow to Miami and let him sink or swim back in Florida with the Dolphins.
Denver can keep Orton and get their coveted sub .500 season and be in the sweepstakes for another 1st round QB.

We can only wish to have Tebow here in Dolphin Land ... It would make sense to bring Tebow here ... after all, we don't have a real QB ... so why not Tebow? We're not exactly optimistic about the Dolphins upcoming season the way it is set up now.

After all, we all know that the Dolphins owner chased after Jim Harbaugh behind Sparano's back. Come to think of it, it was done in front of Sparano's face. What a joke our franchise is!

Donks, chill out! You have THREE decent QB on your roster, while many NFL teams don't have one!

Fox & Elway want to start Orton because he's the most experienced, and the beginning of this season will be an uncoordinated mess with all the changes teams have gone through!

I'm a big Orton fan (watched & cheered for him since he stepped in as a raw rookie), the guy is big and has a good arm. But, he's immobile...I'd use BOTH Orton & Tebow (in the backfield) for your "Wild Horses" offense!

Man, that could not be defended against! Tebow can run AND pass, on the fly!!

I think the Broncos will have an excellent season, your D looks sound and things are shaping up nicely! Let it work!

Question still being thrown around on Mike and Mike. Golic says the players want to win now and John Fox, on the worst team in football last year, wants to win now.

That's all well and good but when does reality set in? Fox got fired from the worst team and got promoted to maybe the second worst team.

Why is it that so many other teams on sub .500 clubs swallow the lumps and start their possible future player over the jorneymen?

Even teams that expected to be sub .500 and were not, still started their number 1 picks by the second year.

I'm not saying that Tebow is this or that, I'm just saying Orton, in his last year on this team, serves no pupose to the team ouside of getting enough wins to not be the number 1 pick. Well, that's great! 4-12, here they come!

Starting Orton this year, with this team, is a wasted year in terms of what the QB situation will be next year.

On the other hand, Dolphins have nothing to lose by obtaining Tebow. Right now, starting Tebow over Chad Henne is marginal to the strength of the offense (what you lose you probably never had anyway), while Tebow is back in where he'd be more 'ppreciated'.

Skip Bayless and Chris Broussard on 1st and 10, had it out on the Orton/Tebow question. Got to call it a tie. They both hammered home some good points: Bayless talking about how Tebow can energize a team while Broussard coming back with he needs to do better in practice to earn it.

Michael Lombardi explains why the Tebow problem won't go away and what it will take to resolve it:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8216048...

That is exactly why I want the Broncos to either play him or trade him. Sitting him on a team that does not believe in him is a total waste of time and a 1st round draft pick.

The Broncos may seriously devalue him by doing what they are doing which hurts both parties. Better to go all-in for a year and see, or cut bait.

Yeah, but is anyone going to want to give up what the Broncos will want for Tebow? Maybe later this season, when there are some injuries.

Lots of teams need upgrades, like Miami, MN etc. I agree, trading Tebow makes some sense, but I don't see them doing that.

Being who he is now in the orginization, that is not the problem. Problem is, and he stated it right out of the box, Tebow is not his kind of QB. Later tried to retract but too late.

I feel the Broncos brass consider him #3 (which is fine), but are puting on a show while they have too, until the regular season starts. Then they'll claim winning is the biggest thing. Problem there, with this team and Kyle Orton, win what? Another year of futility before having to ditch Tebow and Orton. That's smart.

Chris Carter, on Mike & Mike today, said Tebow like some QB's, need to be put back in the oven and cook a little before he's ready. He's right.

If he thinks holding a clipboard and playing cheerleader to Kyle Orton is the oven, he's seriously mistaken. The oven is the field, where the white lines exist on Sunday, not the pretty pine bench beside it.

He not only needs to be in the oven, he needs to be in the fire for about a year. That is when and where the story of who Tim Tebow is will be told, good or bad.

Exactly...

if Tebow only plays 2-3 games a year......he'll be a rookie QB for 5 years....still making rookie mistakes.

a QB can't learn it all from watching films......

he's gotta be in the game to learn the game.

We saved Tebow's ass last night otherwise the weak pass he threw high down the middle of the field would have counted as an interception. His motion is long and slow and he throws sidearm. In other words he sux. Cut him now and save some cap space

Good point, Donna. That thought have crossed my mind before. After all, what ex-player wants to be forgotten.

As a Dolphins fan (and admire-er of athletes with real character and integrity), I would love Miami to take a chance on Tebow.

With the lack of optimism looming before the start of the regular season, what do the Dolphins really have to lose. I, for one, believe we're headed for a 6-10 season.

John Elway is a competitior no matter what he does. He certainly would not get put in a postion and purposely fail to keep his personal past stronger than his current actions. He probably is proud enough that he thinks it could not happen anyway.

If he flounders as a GM, he'll certainly tarnish his overall legacy. If he flourishes, he just makes it bigger and better. Same for any star entertainer.

The part about Elway being a competitor, I certainly agree. But I do think that mind-set is what probably allows him to think that the Broncos could be good with a mediocre QB.

That way, his legacy as a the greatest Bronco QB could remain intact & he could still look good as a successful GM.

Tebow was 1-2. Orton was 3-10. Tebow may look it, but Orton smells, tastes, and feels like it.
