Interesting article, or should I say headline. Probably the web developer's fault though, not Haugh's.

I can't really say if Rex could have been a good QB. I know what I saw and I saw him win a lot of games. The front line stunk during his few starts after the super bowl and he took the brunt of it and never complained. Bottom line I don't blame him. If you want to get to the root of the problem start at the top and go down as far as the head coach. I truly believe their arrogance and stubbornness has set this team back light years.

Of course Rex Grossman will find a strong market. He's a good quarterback. Just because our fans and media can't recognize it won't amount to a hill o'beans in the real NFL. And if I sound bitter, I am. I still can't forgive the booing of our own quarterback - on our own field. Embarrassing! It shows zero understanding of the game of football and reflects poorly on the team AND the city.

VoR, you are an idiot. Rex got some playing time this season, and he was TERRIBLE. Furthermore, if a player is sucking, they deserve to be booed. We fans are paying these athletes millions of dollars to perform, and if they play as poorly as Rex did, then by golly I'll boo if I want to. So go back to your imaginary happy land where no one gets booed and fans are all purely intellectual, and keep your nose out of the business of real fans who actually involve their emotions with the team.

I agree, it was probably time to let Rex go but I still think he was our best option since he got here. If this team would have surrounded him with NFL caliber receivers and linemen, he would have been great.

I really hope he goes else ware and does great. It would show the ineptitude of our current organization. He seems like a great guy and it all must have been pretty tough on him.

I thought it was ridiculous at the amount of booing that went on when he played this year IN RELIEF. It's not like he was the starter, he was just filling in. I mean give the guy a chance. Orton is not the answer at QB. He was ok in the first half of the season but not great after that. No better than Rex would have been.

Actually, Colorado Fish, you sound like the idiot here. Booing a guy for bad performance is one thing, but booing him constantly -- even on Family Night during exhibition season!-- is truly classless. Unfortunately, Rex was destined to lose here, thanks to the initial entitlement approach to being the starter that Angelo and Co gave him, and because of foolish fans who expected perfect play from Day 1 from the guy because he was a 1st round draft pick. Yes, it's disappointing that it didn't work out for him here, but he was a class-act the whole time and always faced the media without ever throwing his often-mediocre teammates under the bus. I hope Rex resurfaces somewhere and lights it up. He has the talent (his arm and release are things you either have or don't, not things that someone can acquire through coaching); he just needs his confidence back and to find the right system.

Good for Haugh on pointing out that Rex deserves better.

So let me get this straight, it upset you that people who shelled out quite a bit of money to see the Bears booed the inept Rex Grossman?

I'd hate to see your reaction to a tearjerker movie like "The Champ", etc. Would you have to check into a hospital to recover?

I can't wait to see what "strong market" Haugh sees for Wrecks Grossman!!

Really....the guy was voted "Most Easily Intimidated QB" by his NFL peers, became a national punchline with his clipboard and idiotic comments to the press, not to mention the internationally recognized "Good Rex/Bad Rex" stuff!

I don't know one NFL fan-base out there who would be excited to have Grossman land on their steps! If anyone can find evidence that some group of fans WANTS Grossman, please post a link!!

another thing to consider in his situation is how he compares to other available 2nd string QBs. He's probably just behind Garcia, right on par with Simms and Leftwich, ahead of the likes of Orlovsky, Losman, etc. So, Haugh is right -- there will be a market for him and the rest of these guys. Even looking at under-contract 2nd stringers just in our division, I'd rather have Rex as a #2 than Jackson or Rosenfels in Minnesota, either of the young backups in GB, or pretty much anyone on the Lions roster.

Rex "just behind" Garcia????? WTF!

That was NOT a good comparison. Rex is more like "just behind" Tim Couch. Romo behind Rex.....he sucks.

Here's what I'll remember most about the Grossman era:

1) He was the QB that took us to the Super Bowl for the first time since the might '85 team.

2) The senseless and relentless 'booing' of Grossman showed that Saturday Night Live was right in portraying most Bears fans as meathead morons.

3) For the first time in my life, I am embarrassed to be a Bears fan, thanks to the meathead Rex boo-ers. I wasn't embarrassed through the Wanny years, not through the Jauron years, but rather these post '06 years and seeing how clueless and un-intelligent we Bears fans really are. Shame on us.

Garcia's best days are long gone. He'd be a solid #2 and that's it -- no more upside, just continued declining play. See Brad Johnson, last year. At least with Rex you have the ability to get him on track again.
