Behind blocks, Vikings' Adrian Peterson is off and running

Full story: TwinCities.com

The Vikings' offensive linemen didn't know exactly what happened to free up Adrian Peterson for a 75-yard touchdown run on the first offensive play of their 17-10 exhibition victory over Houston on Monday night.

I saw whole game on t.v. last night, Wow looked he still good player as same old time he way style, throw etc. But He should sit on 3q.... if he did sit on 3q.. He will be fine and safely.. but in 3q Ouch got worst.. Damn.... I hope he didn't play on this friday vs dallas. save for back play on reg season getting serious!.. GO Vikings! I thinking 2 players QB is better than Jackson I guess so.

Well, not overly impressed with the performance last night, but saw some good things. The main downfall that I saw was all 74 penalties that were committed. That was freakin ridiculous. No discipline. Here's what I saw:

1. QB- Pretty solid, nothing spectacular. Hard to overcome so many 1st and 20s and 25s, but Favre did ....good.....
2. RB- Very solid, both TDs speaks for itself
3. WR/TE- OK, looks like they're still havin trouble getting open
4. OL- Not impressive, especially pass protection. Penalties!
5. DL- Great run D again, decent pass rush
6. LB- OK, didn't see much blitzing (don't want to show too much yet), need to improve on intermediate passes across the middle. Very solid tackling
7. CB/S- Very solid with exception to the drive at the end of the 1st half.
8. ST- Much improved! Looked very solid on kick coverage. They impressed me the most.

Note: I love Favre's play action and the way he looks defenders off. That will be his two biggest assets in making this offense really go. Bad block man. Its pre-season Brett. And why even call that play with him out there IN THE PRE-SEASON.

Ummm, I take it that you are from a different country...? Welcome to America, and glad to have you as a Vikings Fan! There are a lot of good football players that come out of Iowa......(which besides Corn, those are about the only good things to come out of Iowa), but God bless you guys anyways!
Glad to have you on board!

So last year they proved they won't win a Super Bowl without Favre and now this season they won't win a Super Bowl with Favre.

Some powerful insight there.

Nice, well-executed play. Adrian should have a monster year with a spread out defense. Favre should only have to throw 15-25 times a game. Chilli: DO NOT FORGET WHO AND WHAT THE BREAD AND BUTTER CONSISTS OF ON THIS TEAM! Still skeptical of the "Backdoor4 Experiment" but have no choice but to root for the guy now, i'll just do it quietly for a while. Hope all you clowns that bought jerseys have a jersey burning party organized for early in the New Year!

Excellent posts. There are many (idiots) who belittle Favre's performance - they are blind, hate his guts and are probably not mentally salvageable. The FACT is, he played a mistake-free game with only one semi-error - holding the ball too long/Mario sack. To criticize his performance is to advertise your stupidity - the numbers don't lie, and every analyst gave him a thumbs up. Favre-haters are brain dead - they could see black on the TV and come in here posting it was white. See left and swear it was right. These are not Vikings fans who want to win - they are rancid morons and it's hard to believe any of them hold jobs and have families (they probably don't;-).

Nice game, fun to watch. Early, but exciting - solid qb who gives us the feeling on any given drive he can score. Master of the 2-minute drill. No helicopter spins and fumbles, jump-passes into triple coverage resulting in pics, brainfarts and resulting sacks. And he can see the entire field - watch his eyes as he checks down. What a breath of fresh air having a master and not a handoff artist who, when he's called on to pass, stares down one recover and, if covered, takes off or fumbles. How did Jackson do last night, btw?

yeah, we obviously still have a lot to work on. i was hoping for more dominance out of the defense but it seemed like they were holding a lot of blitz packages back and only rushing the front four mostly. overall they played very well in the bend but don't break style while forcing two turnovers and no major mistakes.

the offense is still not clicking very well. the pass protection this game was poor like last year but the texans were bringing a lot, trying to get to favre and hurt him i guess. for once klink made an adjustment and started throwing all those successful screen plays. bernard still wasn't playing, but i was not overly impressed with sydney and percy needs to shake it off and get his head consistently in the game. as predicted visanthe is turning into a pro bowl TE. overall they played well but were continuously hindered by miscues and penalties.
we seemed to be one play from breaking this game open the entire game, but the penalties killed us. once again this falls to the hands of klink and preparing his team.

That 75 yard run was a thing of beauty. Peterson has shown that he is our number one warrior. And when the opposition focuses on Peterson...Favre will eat them alive. Skol Vikings.

A few things I see.

1: what kind of low life loser do you need to be to hop on a blog and post on another teams site.

2: Why is Favre a QB when he clearly missed his calling in life as a offensive Tackle?

3: Is it just me or can the receivers not get any seperation

4: See # 1 again

5: Shore up the O-line and penalties and this team goes far.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
