Well said! Thank you for articulating the reasons why I love the Steelers, and the reasons that Ben Roethlisberger's behavior will not take them down.

As a Browns fan can never root FOR the Steelers. But having Ben as their QB gives me a reason to actively root AGAINST them in the Super Bowl.

A die heart browns fan would never ROOT for the Steelers. They don't need any other reason than it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!

The author doesn't defend Mr. Roethlisberger, yet she cites Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu as proof of the team's grit and determination.

That's interesting, since those two players have been voted as two of the top 10 dirtiest players by their peers in the NFL.

Even though this is from 2009, I doubt this list would change much in a year.

Lest anyone try to defend them, I will take the word of NFL players, who know the difference between what is dirty and what is not, over anyone else.

yeah especially player that routinely get their assses handed to them by the steelers and by hines and troy in particular. don't forget harrison too! polling a team's defeated opponents is hardly the way to come to a conclusion about quality of play! we all watch the games who do you believe? the jaded losers who never make it to super bowls or your own lying eyes? lmao!

Absolutely. And Ward is especially galling to those defeated opponents because defensive players, as tough as they are, are the epitome of "dish it out but can't take it." They're so used to the idea that THEY'RE the ones who are supposed to be laying out the licks that when a WR starts knocking them on their asses, suddenly it seems like a perversion of the natural order. It's basically the way Republicans react every time a Democrat wins the White House.

Airing your dirty linen in public, reporter-girl? Why did we have to be told you're a divorcee? Just too much of a feminazi to make a go of it? Poor choice? We don't value your views as a reporter as it is.

Given her opinion of Roethlisberger, I'd be curious to know what she thinks of Hines Ward and the other Steelers who were spotted in Dallas' strip clubs while former Buckeye and current Packer Ryan Pickett is using his spotlight time to denounce pornography. I'm sure she'd want to be consistent in her values, right?

I'm curious about the report on the strip club. Supposedly, these guys were up on the stage getting their pictures taken with strippers. Okay, so where are the pictures? Seems to me they'd be all over the internet.

Even if they did surface, though, I wouldn't have anything in the world against them being there. Strip clubs are legal in America, and if someone hates that, they can move to Chechnya. I would only have a problem if they were doing it the night before an important practice. But I could care less if they're fully rested for Media Day.

Honestly, I really don't care what the players do in their free time that is granted by Tomlin and the Steeler brass.

There is nothing in the law books, preventing grown men of age, to go to a gentlemen's club. As long as there are no illegal activities, I am not sure I really care.

From what I understand from reports and folks I know that are down there, this story is a bit inaccurate. But again, even if they ventured into a gentlemen's club on their only 'off' night, it is not illegal. Tons and tons of men who travel for business, as soon as their meetings and such are concluded, an outing at a local hot spot, golf club, and even gentlemen's club is procured.

You guys are missing my point. I don't care if they go to strip joints either. I just wonder what Li'l Miss Steeler fan thinks about it, seeing how she seems to think she knows what "defines the spirit of the team" and all. I'm sure Hines Ward's smile was on full display the other night as he and the other "nice guys" were making it rain all over some of Dallas' finest (cough) ladies.

You're still failing to make a clear point. What does this strip club, which may or may not have been visited by Steelers, have to do with anything? And if they were there, does that mean they cannot be "nice guys?"

I would think they were giving Hines Ward a run for his money with the smile. A smile that ajax couldn't scrub off.

I know you're just a Steeler trolling in Buckeye country, but let me ask you this. Yes, strip clubs are legal and maybe some of the customers there are nice guys. Would you allow your daughter to work in one or marry someone who frequented them?

Look, I'm not trying to knock the Steelers for going to drool over strippers. I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy and ignorance of the author. That's all. Was that clear enough or should I type slower since you're a Pittsburgh fan?

I'm in the Pittsburgh Steelers Forum in Topix. This thread may, for some reason, be cross-listed in the Buckeye section (even though it has absolutely nothing to do with the Buckeyes).

I went back to the article and looked for the "hypocrisy and ignorance," but there's not much there. She does say that the Steelers are nice guys, and you still haven't proved to that they aren't. She also lauds the team for not using "scantily clad cheerleaders," so I guess you're making the argument that anyone who seems like she might be a feminist shouldn't be extolling the virtues of a team that goes to strip clubs. Okay, for what the argument is worth, IF you can even establish that they were in fact there.

I'm still waiting for even ONE of those pictures people claimed were taken to appear on the internet. If they don't, that pretty much proves the entire thing was fabricated.

Tribucks, welcome to this neat thing called the World Wide Web, which is often referred to as the Internet. More specifically, you are on a website which is contained in the said Internet, called Topix.net . This is where multiple strings of articles, posts, and forums are housed. That being said, this article happened to appear not only in Columbus, but Pittsburgh as well. I know, tough to understand, how can two articles be posted in two different cities? Technology through this electronically powered box is sometimes beyond imagination.

Now on to your questions...would I allow my daughter to work in a strip club? No. I work hard to provide for my children, and would hope that once completed her education, should be able to attain a career in a professional field. However, should there be a situation and she is of course of age and providing for herself, that she should make such a decision -- at that point, it is her life. I would support my daughter regardless of the situation, but I would hope and pray that opportunities would be better for her.

As for marriage, she would be able to marry whom she chooses at the appropriate time. I am near sure that say 80% of college age or just past college age men go to strip clubs, certainly for a bachelor party and other occasions. It is up to their morals and ideals that they must live by. Just because some kid goes to a strip club, doesn't make him a bad person or a malcontent.

Your not trying to knock Steelers who drool over strippers? But you just did.

Believe me, other NFL players go to strip clubs, even the Browns and Bengals. Oh and you being a Buckeye Fan, several of the silver hats have been spotted at strip joints in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Hypocrisy and ignorance of the author? The writer is just that, a writer, you may want to take that up with that person or their employer.

I'm sure you watch and support many entertainment venues such as tv shows and movies that are LOADING with stars with character issues. Ben was never chareged with anything. The girl could not even remember what happened. If you refuse to support Ben then find another team. Without him we do not win. There has to be a degree of seperation between off fied actions and play on the field. And as for you being a bandwagon fan who probably doen't even know what encroachment is, we don't need you. We have enought fans who support the whole team, not just the "cute ones". Go put on your pink jersey. I'll stick to my black & gold #7 thank you.

My favorite Stillers are Ben and Jerry. All other Stillers get to wake up as nothing more than losers on this fine Monday morn.

Aguilera? Fail.
Black-Eyed Peas? Fail.
A-Rod? Fail.
Ruthless Booger? Fail.

Cheer up. Ya still got Crosby.

Hope this wasn't meant as a reply to me. If it was, why not dispute my points rather than talking, or tryign to talk smak? BTW, what has any pro team from OHIO done lately? I'll await a sensible reply.
