It's a day for purple celebration. We'll leave the evaluations and recriminations for the off-season. Until then, there's no time for negativity; support your local longship. Skol, Vikings.

I almost have to hope that some How some way The Chillster and the Vikes are getting better and rather then hope for chillsters demise just maybe the little guy can get it done and lead us to are first superbowl win. COME ON IT CAN BE DONE
|
||||
I'm still here. I don't hate ol' Scrotum Head. He just p*$$es me off. ALOT. But, if he was the mind behind Gus throwing short darts, after a quick 3 step drop as often as he did, more power to him. They've had more wins then losses lately, by a decent margin, so MAYBE Bevell & Butthead are FINALLY "getting it". AD & CT are both superior backs. But they're not the only reason why The Vikes are winning. There's The Williams', Jared Allen, Madieu Williams, B. Robison, & a pretty good LB corps. too. And Etc. etc.- If The Vikings are on the rise - and it seems they might be - this is the best time for that to happen. |
||||
Lol!- If Klink gets The Vikes THAT far, and even just makes a good showing, I'll promise to talk nice about him sometimes. If they win the first play-off game, I'll even be nice(r) to Bevell as well. This Chicago game really surprised me. I suspected that MN would win, but I thought that it'd be just RBs and Defense. There was actually some pretty creative play-calling in this game. Amazing... Keep that $h!t up, and they have a chance to do some big stuff in the next few weeks. BIG stuff... Just one game at a time. I've been down this road too many times before. Don't get too pumped-up on the future. One game at a time. |

1 Right here. Granted, we looked good last night, especially right out of the gate but those were scripted plays. We also seemed to make some timely adjustments too. Seemed like we kept them off balance most of the game and I'd REALLY like to think our coaching staff had something to do with that. We'll see. One game does not a season make. One main reason I have such a hard time liking Childress is the way he came across in his first year, right from the start; Arrogant, stubborn, aloof. To me, he just didn’t deserve the right to be so abrasive in his first year and he has done nothing to change my mind. Add in some incredibly stupid play calling and it adds up to very unlikable man. |

1 Just because we won one game last night doesn't put us in the playoffs and it doesn't mean Childress is a genious. It's just one game. |

I tend to think that quite a bit of it's due to some pretty fantastic players & a very good "D" co-ord. Good LBs coach too. Not great, but "good". Allen in combo with The Williams' make a devestating group. Madieu Williams might be something too. Robison is a decent up-and-coming talent. And AD & C. Taylor speak for themselves. Napo is a good MLB, not an EJ, but pretty damn good. Greenway's a real good young player. And there's others.- If Klink and Bevell had anything to do with a large chunk of Gus throwing quick darts in that game, then MAYBE they're finally "getting it".- We'll see over the next few games. I think it's mostly excellent players "gelling".(good timing at this point in the season either way)

Right here.--- That was a great 5 play series in the SECOND QUARTER (not third) of the game. Yes I'm glad we won. I always root for us to win, but I think with a better coach we would be a lot better. Still misusing AD & CT. Still using a FB. Still without a very good QB for the present and the future. But he did OK in this game with 0 Int by him.(The 1 was tipped.) If this teadm does not make the play-offs (Yes I know we control our own destiny --- did last year too.) it will be because of the poor offense and Chilli is the offensive designer.
Interesting series of calls on offense. IN the second quarter after being called down atthe 9 inch line with about 45 seconds to go it was announce that the clock would start with the placement of the ball. Vikes had 2 time outs I beleive. The could have run the clock down to 22 seconds or so and run the play. If they co not get in they still have 17 seconds and 2 TO to run 2-3 more plays to get in leaving the BEARS with no time.(Such small things shouldn't matter?? Well if the Bears score and that is the difference in the game???) Fast forward to the end of the game. Less than a minute left in a game where you lead by 20 points and the Vikes let the clock tick all the way down before calling a time out. Chilli inc. seams to get the details right when it does not matter but not when it does. Very happy for the win and somewhat better play from the special teams (still some really dumb mistakes on punt coverage though.) |

One nice thouht. Imagine playing with last year's players. Vikings stuff the Bears on the goal line. The QB is back and it is a long pass to Troy ....
Second down... |

Childress is actually pretty funny during his interviews on Sirius NFL channel.
|

Ditto Never liked him, never will like him regardless of how well the team does this year. He's had good games in the past i.e. NY last year and then tanked the rest of the season. 9-7 is still the best he will do and possibly only 8-8. We have an aging QB who is playing his best football in years and might not have anything left in the tank next year; and no one to replace him. His star RB will get hurt if he can't get the passing game on track and his team still continues to flout the law and the rules. He is arrogant, self centered, self rightous and lacking in imagination. There's more but you get the picture. |
||||
"arrogant, self centered, self rightous and lacking in imagination." THAT is a perfect description of Childress and I don't think it will ever change. I wonder if it's true that Zygi Wilf reads the various Viking forums. If so, it can't be lost on him that the overwhelming majority of fans just can't stand Childress. I'm sure if the players could voice their opinions without fear of being waived (It is close to Christmas you know, Childress's favorite time to fire players) they would be right there with the fans. I'm sure all the writers and media types would also agree (You guys don't really shoot survivors, do you?) This win over the Bears, and I'd say most of our wins, had much more to do with the quality of our players than the caliber of the coaching. There are a couple coaches in the college ranks and a few past NFL coaches out there and available. I'd rather see us pick one of those guys up than put up with another year of Childress. |
||||
If you mean "pretty funny" as in saying some of the stupidest things I've ever heard an NFL coach say, then yeah, he's pretty damn funny. So, what do you think you're chances are this Sunday? (Talking about something "pretty funny.) |
