Former Raider Sims Crosses Bay, Joins 49ers

Veteran offensive lineman Barry Sims is crossing the bay after nine years with the Oakland Raiders. He's signed on with the San Francisco 49ers. Sims joined the league as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He started all 16 games at left tackle for the Raiders last season as their longest-tenured player. He played both guard and tackle for Oakland, including 68 straight starts at left tackle, but was released February 29th in a cost-cutting move. The Niners beat out three other teams making a bid for Sims' services.

Sims is gone and Gallery (aka the swinging door) is still there. It must have something to do with cap hit or Als' ego.
