Are you kidding me?
"I asked about the sanctity of a contract, that a player and a team reach an agreement willingly. Does that just get tossed out the window?"
He already agreed to a contract and decided not to honor it, then threw the season to get placed as 4th string CB. Good riddence.

I think that Litto will return to his Pro Bowl from under Rex. Sometimes a change of scenery is good for players. I always liked his style of play and playing in that aggresive eagles defense he will fit perfectly with what Rex wants him to do. I expect a big year from him.

Eagles fan here - if Lito stays healthy he's awesome. But that was the Eagles' problem with him, he didn't stay healthy. Maybe they gave up on him too easily, but the contract he wanted vs the time he spent on the field was pretty ridiculous. The Jets took a calculated risk that could pay off big.

Maybe I missed something, but was the contract question really addressed/answered?? LS would make a terrific politician; but i really can't agree with folk (any folk) who can't or won't honor a contract. Hate to repeat on oft told tale, but IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!! Real folks can't ignore their legal obligations, can't decide to NOT pay their mortages...ah, so sick of this noise!!

And he got paid also!!! Way to go Sheppard!!!

The NFL is the last of the sports plantations. Its the richest sport, but the poorest retirees. What contract, the contracts are weighted in favor of ownership, which by the way, is a monopoly.

It is very confusing when you hear athletes especially in the NFL wishing to renegotiate a contract they already agreed and signed on. Should the ownership have the ability to ask for the return of guaranteed money that was paid out if an athlete does not perform? If it is such a big contention then why not build performance incentives into a contact? I realize that these players work hard and sacrifice their bodies for a short work (playing) career, but they knew that coming in and when they retire they can continue to work in a different field. It is all about the big pay day that everyone is worried about. If you can get the big pay day fine, but do not screw with the cohesion and success of a team because you agreed on a contract that you no longer like. Be fair and agree on an incentive contract if you believe you are worth it!

They already have guidlines, its called the collective bargaining agreement and that stack of paper you signed, often referred to as a CONTRACT! This guy is delusional, he was constantly trying to stir the pot and because of that he got benched(not because he wanted a new unearned contract but the TO like way he went about it). Brown isn't as stupid and will play football instead of whining all year.

Lito is a great player but he can't stay healthy that's his only problem. Also, he is really small (about 5'8") and big receivers just eat him alive( Randy Moss is going to have a great time playing agaist him)

Can't have the security of a long term contract and expect to be among the higher paid in the later years. For the vast majority of players, it can't work that way. Let's see the ultimate in free agency, one year contracts!

He's just not in the same league as Samuel...he just needs to grow up and understand that fact. There is little doubt that his stint with Jets will prove it as well.

LS is not 5'8 and he doens't get eaten alive by big WR's. No idea where our getting that from. Did you not watch the Dallas/ Philly games. Lito made TO's life miserable in those games. Not counting last year that is. Also it was well known in Philly that Lito wouldn't play through any type of pain and missed games with next to nothing injuries.

I heard Lito pulled a hamstring during the interview.

Lto is the perfect Sportscenter DB. He makes a few big plays a year, but is always gambling and out of position. The rest of the defense always made up for his mistakes. Not to mention he doesn't like contact.
Anybody that desperate for a new contract sees the end of his career in the very near future. The Jets bit on this completely overrated CB. Get used to his number, because you will be seeing it all the time chasing the WR from behind.

Lito Sheppard said he got tired of smelling Andy Reid's farts on the sideline.

They had to take him off the field after the Cardinals game when he got burned for 3 Touchdowns even though he was playing in limited packages - it was embarrassing to watch. Not sure if it was talent or lack of effort but either way Eagles made the right decision by decreasing his playing time.

I'm a Philly fan and all I have to say is I'm so jealous of the Jets for taking my favorite player, Lito Sheppard. I hope you guys appreciate what a special player this kid is. He's gonna make you guys proud!
