Dolphins trade Chris Chambers to Chargers

Rookie receiver Ted Ginn Jr. may have lost a longtime mentor Tuesday, but he probably gained a starting job when the Dolphins traded Chris Chambers to the San Diego Chargers for a second-round pick in the 2008 ... Full Story

2 Weeks to get Chambers familiar with Chargers plays = One interesting game against Houston.

0 and 16 is looking more and more likely.

Sh1t. The Dolphins are coming to play in London in 2 weeks. So I finally get to see 'em again for the first time since I left SoFla in 1999 and they're having their worst season that I can remember. This is just great!

Congradulations Chris Chambers you are now the envy of the Dolphins locker room.
Chambers should bust out quickly in SD just by having a QB to get him the ball. 84 has always had the talent and when given the chance has shined for the Fins. Congradulations you just won the lottery!
As far as draft picks are concerned I am worried. Why couldn't w muster up a first round pick for Chambers? He was a pro bowler with a tremendous up side. Are venturing into a fire sale in which we let players go for below value? Someone should be watching Randy Mueller!

The only problem with the Chambers trade is that Jason Taylor and Zack Thomas weren't dealt too. I'd hate to see them go but contending NFC teams probably would have put up a second and third round pick respectively. Its all about the future and Jason and Zack aren't going to be there when, and if, the Dolphins are ready to contend.

Just because he goes to another team does not mean he will not be the same inconsistent Chambers who drop 2 out of every 4 passes thrown his way. It will be nice to see the young guys step up.

IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE CHAMBERS DROPPED PASSES IN S.D.

The Welker trade still makes me sick! and before you consider a trade with Thomas or Taylor, Drop Porter!

Welker fluorishes b/c of Stallworth and Moss. He would be just another 3rd WR on the 'Fins. Look at the team and not solely the player. As for Porter, Capers needs to utilize his skill set better. You don't line up a 255lb LB against a 300LB OL in a three point stance. JT does it b/c he is a trained D-lineman. Porter has always been a lB....they are very different.

No team in their right mind would give up a 1st rounder for a starting WR that had 600 yards last season. Even during his pro bowl year 2 seasons ago, a 1st round would not have happened...heck moss was traded for a 4th round! Getting a 2nd round pick was a steal!

Zach is great, but he's getting old and just came off another concussion...I don't think we'd get a 5th round pick for him! that's not worth it...JT, it would be tough to get a 2 right now...but I still think he has some years left here...

As much as it pains Dolfans to see a good receiver in Chris Chambers leave the organization, it is the only plausible thing that the Dolphins could do at this time. They get a good pick that will hopefully be put to good use and they allow the young receivers to start coming up to speed. The organization also didn't do a stupid thing by trading away defensive talent, like Jason Taylor or even Channing Crowder. They have less pieces to replace along that front as they do in the secondary, which maybe this pick will provide for. It hurts to be a Dolfan, but the changes have to start somewhere. I commend the coach and front office for pulling this off. Now don't waste it by misusing the pick!

Are you kidding? We ripped them off getting a two, most teams would have offerd a 3 or 4th round pick. Chambers was no better than a no 2 wideout.

Fire Cameron and Mueller. Trading the #1 wide receiver for a 2nd round draft pick is stupid considering Chambers is worth a 1st round pick. Cam Cameron is the current version of Rich Kotite who lasted 1995 and 1996 seasons with the New York Jets.
Dolphins are on the clock with the 2008 #1 draft pick.

I love it. This is the first move of the year that made me smile. 84 moves like mollasses uphill in the winter time. He could'nt catch a cold if it hit him in the nose. He has alligator arms in traffic. AND LOOK WHAT THEY WERE PAYING HIM !!! Chris Chambers is a mediocre receiver at best. The most over-rated AND over-paid W/R in the NFL. GOOD RIDANCE

The problem is we are very thin at wr now. Booker gets dinged often, so that leaves us with ginn (specialteamer injury potential) Camarillo (special teamer) and hagan. We better pick up some depth off waivers or activate someone off the practice squad.

sending Chambers to the Chargers for a 2nd rounder was an absolute steal (acquired in the 2nd round, then traded 6 years later for a 2nd rounder?!?!?!?!.. c'mon... it's a no-brainer). if a team was willing to give up a first rounder for him that would probably mean he was living up to expectations. clearly he wasn't. great move (unless the Fins blow it in next year's draft)

I think is a good trade for the future of this team to get a 2nd round now the pressure will be on Randy and Cam to find someone that can help right away with that pick
Now we need to play Beck get L Booker also some playing time on a 2 back set and throw short passes to either Booker or Brown.
We have at least a 3 year project with this team now if we can beat NE or the Giants we will feel better before the bye.
In paper I thought before the season that we will be 5 - 3 before the bye and 8-8 for the season but now no way maybe 3-13 if we lucky

exactly how is Chambers worth a first round pick when he hasn't scored a td since week 9 of LAST year?
