percy harvin great to have him on the team he sure is a great addition for the vikes. We sure need him as we need every member of the team playing their best it'll be a total team effert in what we do wheather we win or lose for we are a team and we got to butt some heads and gut it up when we get injured and play if possible. Their is no fruit cake thats free there's a price for it and if we want it all we got to take it all go vikings.

I think he has already exceeded expectations in his first year in terms of production, what a great surprise and along with BF I do not think we are 7-1 without him.

I guess you're requesting a Percy ratio, aka "The Randy Ratio". Does it matter how Percy gets his touches? Apparently you want AD, Rice, Berrian, Taylor and Shiancoe to have fewer touches. How many additional opportunities should Harvin have per game? Maybe 15 would fulfill your expectation. If we take away 3 from each of the five named players would you feel better? Through eight games: TOTAL FIRST DOWNS 158 148 FIRST DOWNS (RUSHING-PASSING-BY-PENALTY) 47-99-12 37-97-14 THIRD DOWN CONVERSIONS 54/116 36/102 FOURTH DOWN CONVERSIONS 4/7 5/9 TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS 2,830 2,661 OFFENSE (PLAYS-AVERAGE YARDS) 509-5.6 490-5.4 TOTAL RUSHING YARDS 950 758 RUSHING (PLAYS-AVERAGE YARDS) 229-4.1 183-4.1 TOTAL PASSING YARDS 1,880 1,903 PASSING (COMP-ATT-INT-AVG) 178-262-3-7.7 176-276-6-7.5 SACKS 31 18 FIELD GOALS 13/14 12/14 TOUCHDOWNS 29 20 TOUCHDOWNS (RUSHING-PASSING-RETURNS-DEFEN SIVE) 10-16-2-1 2-13-2-3 TIME OF POSSESSION 31:40 28:19 Turn over ration +5 My conclusion is that Childress is doing a very good job of managing this team. It all begs the question, when are you going to pull your head out of your ass and stop being so naive. I'm guessing that card is missing from your deck. Maybe Harvin has matured enough to be even more involved. Is it unfair for me to use your own words in this debate, hmmm. Nah!

No need to risk Harvin's health if Darius Reynaud is back... he was a stud on punt returns before his injury.

if Harvin is to be unlocked in the offense and see more action/plays that would be great. he's already proven to be an electric player and it would only make the Vikes better. Skol Vikings!!

Why show a last place team your new tricks? Save them for the meat of your schedule. If you are beating everybody with base formations and plays why change? Looks to me that at 7-1 we haven't done too bad. keep doing what has brought you to the dance and the dance will be smooth. If what you brought isn't working then throw a few change ups in there. Go Vikes!!!!

The Kid is still learning though. I'm all for taking it slow with him to ensure that he's around for 8+ years in the Purple and Gold. Same goes for Peterson and Rice. Berrian will be gone after this year though and Lewis will be filling his position come next season. Childress is showing me that even though I'm not in the huddle or on the sidelines getting the inside information, he's got a plan and it's working so I'm putting a bit more faith in him with every game. These guys would make an interesting Wildcat backfield to say the least. Berrian in the slot Peterson in the shotgun Rice is the wide out Harvin the inside wide out Lewis on the check down Taylor the split back Every play they start Trips Left or Right with motion. Would totally baboozle the defense. They wouldn't know what hit em or even what to think or target. Everyone touching the ball would be dangerous.

Conservative's ok when you got AD in the backfield, we have to continue to feed him the ball just to get the D crowding the box if anything else. The moment AD isn't given the respect he deserves, he'll go for 80. As far as the tricks, u want to show tricks against the Lions? Come on, as the other guy said, save it for later. No sense in letting other Ds around the league figure out this potential weapon in the arsenal.

He could bust a kickoff return at any time and special teams points are always huge, you can't ignore him in the return game all together.

i think we shouldnt use our trics until the playoffs we would be unstopable. its the same reason the cardinals went to the superbowl.

I am no Childress fan but take it easy there tiger... Wouldn't you want to save a few plays for the playoffs? Or you want us to open the playbook with the Lions? Take a deep breath and wait, it will happen when the time is right.

I think that the Detroit game is the perfect venue to test out those dusty plays in the book. It will give them a chance to see how they look in a game setting. Plus it will provide an opportunity to get real-time information on them in case they need some modifications.

Might also be the time for the coaches to scheme ways to get Adrian in the game with a little space around him. I can't believe the best iin the league has no where to go. What's wrong with you guys? Brett can't be asked to throw 50 times each game to pull it out couse we're to dumb to scheme for plays for Adrian along with the others. I liked the toss to Dugan. Is Berrian alive and well? Give Adrian some space man!

Hold on everyone, by suggesting that the Lions game would be the best time to test the Wildcat and trick plays is wrong. By thinking that way you could be failing to realize that this game is the perfect "trap." It could be a disaster to unde-estimate the opposition that way. This is a divisional game, you have to go all out and win this. You cannot take the Lions lightly, they have had leads lately and have been unable to hold them. The Vikes can't drop into the trap. I hope the game plan is status quo, which has gotten them to 7-1.

I agree, but I don't think we need to change anything on offense untill their production slows down... Things are fine how they are for now. If anything we need to figure out how to finnish teams off so we don't have these 4th quater come backs!

I think we need to run more to work the clock and keep our defense fresh for the playoffs. Also, Favre should only play the first half to keep him healthy. Use of a power I-formation like Kleinsasser as tailback and Dugan as fullback will be very painful on opposing defenses late in the game. It's good to see the Vikings are losing their "we must establish the punt" philosophy. Kudos must be given to Childress as the team has constantly improved from 6-10 to 8-8 to 10-6 in his tenure.

Quote- "We've thrown a lot at him and we just want to make sure that we're getting as much out of him as he can give us, and not too much," Childress said. Unquote OK, I'll buy that Chilly, but then why are you talking about him returning punts when Reynald is doing a good job. Kick returning, where you get the first 10-20 yards before contact is a lot different than punt returns where you can get leveled right after the catch. Harvin has great ability to see a hole and accelerate thru it which suits him perfectly as a kick returner, but punt returns are making someone miss and I would sure hate to see him get injured as an experiment.
