Tom Powers: Vikings' defense at home flying under the radar

Full story: TwinCities.com

The Vikings' defense could hold the opposition to zero net yards, the front four could record 10 sacks and the secondary could pick off 12 passes.

The Vikes had better stop the run better than they did with the Jets. The linebackers looked really bad, not being in the right gaps, as the Jets ran through them on the way to huge gains.

Tampa 2 defense is a single gap D, each player is responsible for his own gap, pretty simple, not sure you can fault the 'backers for gap coverage.

Most of their runs were the result of great blocking up front, their O line is considered one of the best in the league if not the best and their 2 running backs complement each other well, 2 very different and distinct styles.

Add to the fact our offense kept giving the ball back after 3 and outs and you now have a weary defense. Jets controlled the time of possession overall in that first half by a large margin.

The trend with the Cowboys thus far this season is to throw the ball an awful lot, they are at the bottom of the league in rushing attempts per game. Vikes need to pressure Rome-BOTTOM LINE.

Scouting report: Cowboys will throw to the receiver that is being "covered" by Asher Allen. Might want to give him some help.

Pat Williams is fat and slow. Jared Allen is overrated and weak against dominant tackes. Kevin Williams is good and steady but no superstar. The linebackers are far from all-pro's but solid. Asher Allen and Lito are below average. The safeties rarely intercept which is something they should do. Winfield is the only guy in the secondary that borders on great. Taken together the D won't win many games because they lack speed and ball hawks. Its up to the offense to win and they ain't doing it. Dallas 28 Minnesota 24.

When it's over, if the headlines read "Moss catches lots of passes," then the outcome will probably be to our liking. Skol Vikings.

jared allen plays like an all pro against poor offensive lines, match him up against an average tackle and he is ineffective

Match him up with a great tackle and he vanishes altogether.

Everything is falling into Chilly's diabolical plan. Once they go 1-4. Only 5 teams have made the play-offs and 0 won the SB. He opens a can of wup-a&& and takes the rest of reason and the SB. I wonder how he made the rest of the team patient enough to do this plan.

Couple of breakdowns today by our D. We really miss our two injured cornerbacks. Nevertheless, they hung in there well enough and made Dallas the biggest loser. Skol Vikings.

Great tackling and adjustments made by the defense. The Boys had early success running screens, but the defense saw it and reacted well, stopping that avenue of attack. The only fault I have with their game was letting Romo run around like a headless chicken...

Do you agree that this cover 2 seems to really be working the way it is supposed to or am I just seeing what I want to see? Not giving up big plays and stopping drives pretty consistently IMO, just what it is supposed to do.

jared allen is really flying under the radar, you never hear his name called during the game
