Here's a question:

Agreeing with the idea that the Vikes need to address both the QB and CB positions, do you:

1) Select QB first because there aren't enough good prospects to last into the late 2nd round, then take a CB in the second because that position IS deep, OR -

2) Take a higher graded CB prospect in the 1st, and risk having to choose a QB after Bradford/Clausen/Tebow/McCoy are all off the board?

I realize Griffin is hurt, but he's also young, and will likely make a full recovery (if not in time for opening day). A rookie might help in the nickle spot, but will be hard pressed to keep up his playing time when Griffin resumes his role.

Winfield is getting up there, but he'll start the season recovered from last year's injury, and I don't see any rookie taking his place so long as the Vikes keep him on the roster.

Griffin will likely be around for a few years. Winfield should be here for at least another year. Brett Favre? My money says he's long gone after 2010.

So a better question (assuming the choice is QB vs. CB) might be:

If you knew the 2010 1st round pick would spend his first year on the bench or special teams, would you rather that player be a CB, or the team's possible QB of the future?

Or how about this: Which backups do you feel better about - Sapp and Allen at the CB position, or Jackson and Rosenfels at QB?

Get a first round QB to sit behind 4 for a year (maybe two years, don't assume) and go get Sharper back. And still get a secondary in the 2nd or 3rd.

I'd love to see Sharper back if he plays anything like he did in New Orleans. The having a DB who can actually catch the ball when he reaches it instead of knocking it away would be an upgrade...

They have there future in Tarvaris but they need to get rid of Sage NOW! then around pick 6 or 7 pick up a QB who can learn for the next 4-8 years. God there is way to much hate for Tarvaris out there. The guy only works hard and has improved every year and EVERYONE knew that he was going to take a few years to groom as he was a project to begin with that never had the time to sit on the bench and learn until last year!

Sharper is a great safety, not a CB, however he does not fit into the Vikings defensive scheme, Sharper himself admitted it as well as the Vikings.

This team is built to win now. They need help at DB,OL and LB.There's going to be a short window to win.I don't think drafting a QB at 30 goes along with that train of thought It'll be interesting Thurs. Then again draft day is always interseting.

The vikes also have to fortify the offensive line somewhere in this draft. Artis Hicks left as a free agent, and the depth was questionable to begin with. To the best of my memory, Cooper and Cook are the only two reserve offensive lineman on the roster. Combine that lack of depth with the erratic behavior of Bryant McKinnie, plus the advancing age of Hutchinson, and you have a serious need for a draftee that is good enough to play this season. I suspect that either a first, second, or third rounder gets spent on the OL, and another pick probably a bit later in the draft. I agree that a QB probably will get picked somewhere, but am not sure that taking Tebow in round one is the right plan, although it may happen.

TIM TEBOW WE NEED HIM FIRST IN THE DRAFT/ Then we need defensive secondary help and a tall wide receiver like plaxico burris who can go up and get those favre passes. By the way he seculed to get out of jail before season and playing for the vikes give him new secenery and a great team. He's well worth it the giants have done nothing since he left. He's a free agent now we need him he's that goog. go vikings.

Yes, his biggest attribute is his ball hawking skills, in the cover 2 he is limited and it takes away from his number 1 skill.

All coaches and GMs say, "We were surprised he was still on the board." It makes them and their scouting staffs look very wise and intelligent; a real ego stroker. Who knows, St. Louis might say it after the first round just out of habit.

Just as long as we don't draft Tebow. I would rather have Tony Pike.

Trade Sage and the #1 pick for Raider All-Pro CB Nnamdi Asomugha. Everyone is on the block in Oak. Move Winfield to the nickel once Griffin is full speed, which may be 6 weeks into the season. Don't make the same mistake the '99 team did, draft a 1st rd. QB, to sit on the bench of a team ready to win it all. Address immediate needs.
