our team is good enough that it is not quite polamalu style feast of famine with antoine, but boy did our secondary look different today than it has the last seven weeks. people talk smack about him while he is sitting out, but truth is he is a difference maker probably as much as jared allen is on the line.

The secondary played great. But I don't think the rush was as bad as Tom says and one long run by Bensen was all they really got. Palmer is an upper echelon QB and their line is pretty darn good. Great defensive show.

Favre clearly missed the Harvin option and the O line looked a little shaky. But they beat a very good offensive team with a good defense. THAT'S what matters in the playoffs.

Defense wins championships.

erie-vike fan - yeah the Vikings should put up 60+ points every game or they suck, right? 30 points...you can't ask for much more then that. Go watch your Packers please.

As much as I love Jared Allen (mainly because he brings his best against the pack), the Vikings need to start taking him out late in games that appear to be blow outs. All that playing is going to wear him down for the playoff's. Most of his sacks have come against the divsion, which is a little disturbing. Having Winfield back is awesome. He truely completes the defense and makes them better, even with E.J. out. If Favre can get over his December slumps, this team is going to give New Orleans a run. They are going to be a VERY good matchup for the Saints in the NFC Championship. I hop both New Orleans and Indy go undefeated and the Vikings win the Super Bowl. That would definitely make up for the 0-4 record in Super Bowls and would make them one of the greatest teams of all time. Plus Packer fans would never hear the end of it as long as football exsists!!

Winfield and new safety J. Sanford made a huge difference, and the play of Brinkley was head bangin good...There is no question that E. J. is not going to get the middle linebacker job back. Sanford is the safety the Vikes need, he is a hitter and plays much smarter than Johnson. Now the Saints remind me of a team in 1998 that choked in N.F.C. championship game, all offense weak D. The future all depends on A. P. stayin healthy and focused.

To have a winning football team, it needs a balance of offense, defense and special teams. And during the season sometimes one of those parts must carry the team. Yesterday it was the defense, but I disagree with Powers about the offense not looking good. I thought the offense did a very good job when push came to shove. Maybe Powers thinks that when Favre takes his jersey off he has a Superman outfit underneath. He is not Superman, but he is one helluva a Pro QB. How about that hard count when he knew the Bengals defense was digging in for a blitz on a 2nd and long situation? I think the offense did score 30 points didn't they against a very good defense?
So what is Power's problem?

That would be OC Bevell's fault! Why can't he be as creative as that bengal touchdown play? That was a pretty cool play!

Winfield set the tone no doubt, but Powers didn't watch the same game I did. Favre looked like a 40 year old QB? He did what he was asked to do, manage the game. He didn't have to win the game all by himself. I saw the defensive line harrassing Palmer the whole game! Allen was double teamed the whole game and held on several plays that weren't called. Had the Vikings Dbacks played the way the bengals did, we would have been called for defensive holding and pass interference the whole game! Even the penalty on our corner (23) by the endzone was a terrible call by the refs! Of course it was a late flag as always!

It was a good game! A much needed win! 11-2!

Great win for the vikes - bengals did a good job setting up blocks in the run game but that was just not enough of a factor to keep them in this game. Vikings played tough and didnt allow ocho stinko to be a factor, although, he did score the teams ONLY touchdown. Vikes did a very good job on all sides of the ball and came out with a W. oh wait, im guessing the bengals are on that list of nobodies so we still havent beaten anybody good yet, right??

We put up 30 on the Number 1 scoring defense in the League and doubled their yardage average, while holding their vaunted rushing offense. What more do you want? Farve looked good and managed the game as he should have. Adrian needs to stop pressing I beleive he is trying to hard and pressing the hole, Chester looked great, Winfield is a beast, but noticed the hole team picked up its hitting including the offense.
Sanford for starter SS

I think Vikings Defense is better off with Jamaca Sanford starting than tyrell johnson. Sanford is more physical, better tackler, better instincts, seems to always be around the ball, brings a physical presence to the secondary and really complements the physical play of winfield and giffin. Now if the vikes can wake up and put asher allen in at nickle instead of sapp, man our secondary will be a very physical secondary that will knock some receivers out. Just ask Chad Ochocinco, he'll tell you. VIKES KEEP SANFORD AT STARTING SS. I Don't care how healthy Tyrell Johnson is, he hasn't done anything all season. Sanford with just the little time he's been in there has already made his presence felt.

Yep, Winfield was great but what is this morons problem with Favre? He played just fine against a real good defense.

It's pathetic that unless Favre wins every game and the Super Bowl, losers like Powers will say he's a failure. He has the 2nd highest passer rating in the NFL, nimrod.

If favre looked like a 40 year old qb than palmer looked like he was 70. Favre played just fine.

I think what Tom is trying to say here is if Antonio Winfield had not played yesterday his prediction of a Bengal victory would have been correct. Sorry Tom that's not going to work, some of us were predicting a Viking win without even knowing if Antonio would be back

I agree with the other posters, we put up 30 points against a good, maybe great team and that's not enough? Favre looked 40? is he talking about the grey hair perhaps, because his playing looked great to me. Yes, one INT but gimme a break, Peyton Manning threw 3 yesterday.

I'll tell you what Power's problem is. He's a newspaper moron who's complaining that he personally wasen't imformed that Winfield had a broken foot, even though we all knew for the past 6 weeks his foot was broken. He acts as if he's special or something that he is owed some sort of inside explanation! No you don't Tom. You are a hack. Plain and simple. He also missed a great football game if he thinks Favre looked like a 40 yr old QB, and the D line didn't do their job. They chased Palmer from the pocket at least 12 or 13 times putting him on the run. And Favre wasen't his best, but he was very efficient! No, Nothing new with Tom Powers. Still just the same ol' complaints. He sounds more like Ruesse all the time!

After watching the other games I think your team will have a tough time. Did you watch the Eagles? They are to be recconed with. Two outstanding quarterbacks. Now that was an exciting game...

The Vikings have to get there first and by the looks of Philly it is going to be rough going. Don't get your hopes up because it is still a long way to the superbowl.
